Ignore Amway Ambots

A reader shares what its like getting pestered by Amway ambots on campus.

This happened to me before. In my case, they didn't mention the name and i got sucked into a meeting.

I didn't get sucked in but almost so I can only agree with some of the things here. The first time I got introduced to it, I was a freshman in college. The girl who gave he info was like a waterfall. I stood underneath it and continuously poured info nonstop barely stopping for a question I squeezed in. That was the first flag.

I went to a meeting of theirs. First thing I noticed was that the girl had aggressively messaged me to go and I had since I had finished everything that was needed of me and I had nothing else to do. Second red flag.

The meeting was intense. When the top upline of the town came in, some people were cheering as if their favorite sports team won something or their favorite singer came in. Basically at the top of their lungs. 3rd red flag.

I basically wanted to leave. AS far as they were concerned, they were avoiding to say the name of the company. They tried to get my credit card info to get me to buy their stuff and immediately join. So, I told them I had something to do in the way so I left back to my dorm.

That was the end of that. I still see some of the people at my university (they were also college students) pitching the Amway message. I kind of feel pity as their expressions expressed insecurity and desperation for money. But someday they could rise out of their hole. Now everything, I get a message on facebook, I just delete them just because its annoying as hell. I am certainly not making the first mistake again.

Btw, this is in New Jersey. My college Rutgers has these people like other universities that do this. All of my friends just ignore them. Best leave it that way.

  1. Great... now they're ruining colleges and universities. At least the guy peddling credit card applications for giveaway shot glasses and T-shirts was frank in saying if you had no interest in applying for new credit, just throw away and ignore the rest of the stuff that comes in the mail.

Reminds me of one person who online was saying Amway is one of the worst thing to happen to Indian people. In some communities, whenever another fellow Indian approached them, you had to wonder if they were pitching that dreaded Amway again.

    1. ackmondual - Amway has been ruining colleges and universities for a long time. Ambots insult those who attend that they're wasting money on education when they could be spending all that money on their Amway "business" and attend Amway university.

    2. Colleges are prime hunting ground. Most of these kids have never heard of Amway before. They should ask their parents or grandparents opinion before signing up. I bet they've heard of this scam.

    3. Specifically, they're setting foot on campuses and prospecting victims?

Otherwise, I've heard accounts where people say they were prospected while they were in college (fitting some young, "naïve", "go-getter" profile), and Amway adding college to the list of useless things you can do (others include paying your mortgage/rent, owning a car, living in a domicile that isn't too cramped).

Also seen a video clip where some diamond speaker at the conventions shouts out the unholy "gospel" "there is no better opportunity than this!".

    4. ackmondual - thats what they're doing. And yeah they always go around bragging theres no better opportunity than the Amway scam and put down owners of other types of businesses.

  2. I see it on my campus quite a bit as well. I got suckered in once, not making that mistake again. Although I am hoping an Ambot approaches me again. I'll agree to meet with him so he can show me the plan, but I'm just going to mess with him the whole time. Based on my time in Amway and reading this blog, I have a good idea about things I can say to piss them off.

  3. I was going to community college when I was tricked into going to an Amway meeting. I was told it was a surprise party for a mutual friend. Nope. All lies. The atmosphere in the room was static and the speaker was charismatic. Bottom line I signed up and was persuaded to quit college and get started in my own business and I'd be 3 years ahead of everyone I was going to school with. I attended Amway U. What a joke. I quit after about 4 months. Lost about $2000 but consider myself lucky I got off that easy. Went back to college and ended up being a year behind everyone I knew. Thanks Scamway.

    1. Sorry about the money you lost and Amway is all about tricking prospects to come to fake meetings where you expect something else is going on.

    2. I remember this Ambot who tried to recruit me. He quit med school cause Greg Duncan wwdb quit. Told me he's working construction in the day and building this at night. In two years of knowing him his group never grown beyond 3 people lol. Glad I never signed up in this scam

    3. As far as Greg Duncan is concerned the money is better in his pocket than the med school.

  4. Your blog is excellent and I love this blog.
How do I come here with this blog? haha That was another story, I wont go in deep but I contacted by business person on social network. I dont use FB or twitter but i use Linkedin as I am really professional in my career. He gave me all crap and I was searching online and end up with this blog. I enjoy your blogs.
During presentation in Tim Horton, I asked AMBOT a different questions which upset him or thrown out of his usual rythem or something but it was funny for me.
First question was like. Why I should join this( he never mentioned amway)?
He explained his usual stuffs. and one page with numbers how i can get 500$ more money per month atcs. I told him that the numbers you just showed me is not making sense. Why should i buy this product even if I can get better quality in cheaper price? Give me one product from your website and iwill give you better/cheaper from somewhere else. As i had laptop ( Dell) and he has apple ( to show off to me) , I showed him better product than 80% cheaper price online and he was speechless for a while just trying to think something. He didnt seem to have answer of my question like "Why should I buy this not that"?
Above mentioned was just an part of whole my conversation but I have to say that it was really funny for me and also I was feeling sad about him that he believe all this. He twisted numbers on me, I came out of numbers and show him reality like the cheaper and better product around.

    1. Hi Nash. Glad you're loving the blog. The more time you spend in Amway the more they twist the numbers around. Confuse the ambots!

  6. Sadly, I've been approached TWICE by people involved in this in the past two months. :( The first person was an old high school classmate I haven't talked to in a while, and she said she wanted to meet me to catch up and talk about this "great business opportunity," so I met up with her and a friend of hers that I haven't met before at a boba shop. Immediately the FIRST thing that bothered me was that they never directly mentioned Amway before her friend started asking me what my goals were and how big of an income would make me financially stable. I had to ask multiple questions because they weren't giving me the information I needed. Another thing that bothered me that the high school classmate constantly stressed that she was my "friend," even though we mostly talked only during class and we didn't hang out that much during lunch in our high school days. Also, there was no "catching up"; the entire meeting was about her trying to get me to join Amway. She didn't really force me to become an IBO in the end, which was good, but after doing my own research about Amway, I realized there were MORE things she and her friends haven't told me about! I didn't even know what kind of business Amway was until I did my research! I had trust issues from that point on.

The second time actually happened today at my college campus. This IBO was a different person; I didn't know her too well, but I knew that she was from my Christian fellowship. The bad part was that she ESPECIALLY mentioned Amway because I told her I was an Environmental Science major, which led her to recommend me to look at the environmentally-friendly products they have (which I already did). I might not be able to argue against their claim that they don't use harmful chemicals (so far I looked up one of the chemicals from the LoC laundry detergent, and it was definitely not harmful according to the FDA), but I am neither changing my laundry habits nor using up more water and energy to buy more laundry detergent just to waste money on buying more overpriced laundry detergent. If they mentioned additional environmental benefits and even a comparison to other brands of laundry detergent in terms of quality, efficiency, and environmental friendliness, I might look into the matter even with the issue of high prices...but otherwise, no.

I've seen comments from both sides all over the Internet, but I've also been wary about Amway and MLMs from the very beginning, so I still don't want to join Amway at this point. I just hate being in this situation. :(

    1. Hi Jen. You got hit up with the classic Amway pitch. Nothing ever changes. And no they fon't mention the A word. They want to get money out of you first before you realized you got scammed. Next time they ask what your dreams are tell them its to produce gay porno movies. Ambots are prudes so that'll make them back off especially if you tell them you're looking for investors and turn the sales pitch your way.

Comments are moderated but we publish just about everything. Even brainwashed ambots who show up here to accuse us of not trying hard enough and that we are lazy, quitters, negative, unchristian dreamstealers. Like we haven’t heard that Amspeak abuse from the assholes in our upline!

If your comment didn’t get published it could be one of these reasons:
1. Is it the weekend? We don’t moderate comments on weekends. Maybe not every day during the week either. Patience.
2. Racist/bigoted comments? Take that shit somewhere else.
3. Naming names? Public figures like politicians and actors and people known in Amway are probably OK – the owners, Diamonds with CDs or who speak at functions, people in Amway’s publicity department who write press releases and blogs. Its humiliating for people to admit their association with Amway so respect their privacy if they’re not out there telling everyone about the love of their life.
4. Gossip that serves no purpose. There are other places to dish about what Diamonds are having affairs or guessing why they’re getting divorced. If you absolutely must share that here – don’t name names. I get too many nosy ambots searching for this. Lets not help them find this shit.
5. Posting something creepy anonymously and we can’t track your location because you’re on a mobile device or using hide my ass or some other proxy. I attracted an obsessed fan and one of my blog administrators attracted a cyberstalker. Lets keep it safe for everyone. Anonymous is OK. Creepy anonymous and hiding – go fuck yourselves!
6. Posting something that serves no purpose other than to cause fighting.
7. Posting bullshit Amway propaganda. We might publish that comment to make fun of you. Otherwise take your agenda somewhere else. Not interested.
8. Notice how this blog is written in English? That's our language so keep your comments in English too. If you leave a comment written in another language then we either have to use Google translate to put it into English so everyone can understand what you wrote or we can hit the Delete button. Guess which one is easier for us to do?
9. We suspect you're a troublemaking Amway asshole.
10. Your comment got caught in the spam filter. Gets checked occasionally. We’ll get to you eventually and approve it as long as it really isn’t spam.
