The last time we ran the post about Amway’s Secret Knowledge Club, one of our readers left a comment that gave most of us a new word to learn for the day. Just in case you missed it here it is:
Amway is a cult, and cults have
been studied and analyzed thoroughly for many years now.
One thing is ALWAYS true about a cult: it has what scholars call a GNOSIS.
This “gnosis” is a Greek word meaning “secret knowledge” or “special
information.” Everyone who is initiated into the cult aims to learn the “gnosis,”
and use it for whatever purpose the cult exists: salvation, special status,
success, high rank in the cult, or whatever. The “gnosis” is carefully
protected so that only the properly initiated members get to learn it.
Amway is no different, except that they do the best they can to male the “gnosis”
as remote and unattainable as possible. As long as the promised secret
information is unattainable, the lowly IBO will keep on buying CDs and tapes,
and going to functions, and buying Amway products for self-consumption.
And Anna is right -- the real secret in Amway is to rip off your down-line, and
do it for as long as possible.
Anna again:
And GNOSIS!
Amway Ambots call us uneducated and here we’ve just learned a new word that most Amway losers could not define the meaning of.
Amway is like winning the
lottery. For both you got to keep trying until your money runs out or you
become part of the teensy percentage that gets rich. The enticement is always
there. All the things you can buy when winning the lottery is like all the things
you can buy when you get rich in Amway once you get that secret knowledge to
make it happen. It’s like all I need is a crystal ball to know which lottery
numbers to pick.
Yup ripping off your downline as long as possible is the only way an Amway Ambot
can earn a few pennies commission. Eventually the downline is going to figure
out that Amway is a scam and they got ripped off and will stop spending money
on this stupid pyramid scheme. Then the Ambot needs to search out another
sucker to rip off.
Amway is like many sick cults, such as Scientology or the People's Temple or the Sullivanians. It is a deeply controlling organization that insists on absolute obedience and lockstep thinking.
ReplyDeleteThe main concern of Amway and its various AMO subsystems is to make money, which makes it somewhat different from the above-mentioned groups. But this central goal of making money is two-faced. For the average IBO, he believes that he'll make the money by following the "Plan." But for the bigshots who run the AMO subsystems and the company in Ada, Michigan, they know that the money comes from bleeding low-level IBOs of cash for fees, tuition, and monthly purchases.
It's the same with every cult, old or new. It starts out with a "vision." Then it becomes an "idea." Then it becomes a "movement." Then it becomes a "cause."
And then it becomes a racket.
That's right Anonymous. Amway the Cult of Greed where all must worship the Great Amway God and the dollar. Yup very good. Vision. Idea. Movement. Cause. Racket. The Amway cult ticks off all the boxes. And ticks off a lot of women married to Ambots!
