This is my story. This is your story. This is everyone's story that ever got involved in ScAmway and witnessed the brainwashing and manipulation. Nothing every changes. This could have happened yesterday, 10 years ago, 20 years ago or even longer than that. Thanks to one of our readers for sharing their story on why Amway is a disgusting cult:
Amazing blog you have here! Lol it cracks me up.
I have my own little Amway story for you from when I was in the cult: I was in Amway last year dragged in by a co-worker with the idea of making millions and retiring within 2-5.
I soon realized Amway truly is a cult.
My upline would encourage us to cut out our own family and friends if they talked against Amway. They called themselves our family and the only family we need. The constantly badgered me to drag my girlfriend into the cult and it eventually got to a point where they were telling me she’s a non believer and that I should consider dating someone within the Amway cult.
Everyone would worship our upline leader and if anybody decided to say anything controversial about him to anyone inside the cult, the word would get to the leader and he would have a personal one on one talk with you. I remember one time I was talking privately to this guy at one of my first Amway events (I was just asking him basic questions, trying to figure out what this is about) and my upline approached me after and asked me what we were talking about. And they continued by telling me to be careful what I say to other people and if they find out I am talking bad about Amway or anyone within Amway there will be consequences (I don’t know why this didn’t make me run as far away as I could after this incident, I think the idea of riches and retirement was more important to me).
Also our cult leader would hug people at the meetings and tell them “I love you”. He would call all the men within the cult “brother”. He was manipulative and he used weak people to gain their love and trust. After meetings this bastard would bring everyone outside and show off his brand new car he “paid with cash”. He would literally make people sit inside of it just to experience what “they will have one day if they stick to the plan”.
He would exploit certain peoples childhoods and weakness to bring them crawling to his feet. I swear he would tell people this story about how one time he sat through and entire Amway event with a burst appendix because it was more important to him that he received this information than to go to the hospital. What a joke!
I feel like such an idiot for falling for this disgusting cult. Sometimes I can’t even believe I fell for it. They are using a very effective form of brainwashing amongst these people. Its scary to even recall this type of stuff. It is a true cult and there is absolutely no arguing that. I fully 100% believe with all my heart that this is the wrong path to go down. Amway is not a legitimate business opportunity, it is a shitty recruiting job that ends up with you loosing family, friends, and having people laugh in your face when you try and “drop the message” to them. Very scary stuff. I hope all these brainwashed ambots will realize one day they are wasting their time and money.
I'm very glad about one thing. The perception that Amway is essentially a cult is now widespread and accepted. Our efforts and those of other anti-MLM bloggers have finally exposed to the world that Amway isn't a business at all, but a kind of fake religion. And many persons have been saved from the horrible fate of being recruited into Amway, because they have finally understood that Amway is no different from Scientology, or Synanon, or the Sullivanians, or Jim Jones and his Guyana temple.
ReplyDeleteEverything in Amway is evidence of this. There is the mind-control, the leader worship, this sacred doctrines that cannot be questioned, the attempt to isolate members from their family and friends, the mindless babble of Amway-speak, and the constant bleeding of funds from believers.
Amway is a cult, and it should be suppressed.
Anonymous - yes it's widespread that Amway is a cult and like all cults has twisted religious teachings. There are specialists in deprogramming cult followers and many of them have worked with Amway Ambots. And you nailed it why Amway is no different than other cults: " There is the mind-control, the leader worship, this sacred doctrines that cannot be questioned, the attempt to isolate members from their family and friends, the mindless babble of Amway-speak, and the constant bleeding of funds from believers."
DeleteDidn't you love the above where the fellow said if you talk bad about Amway there will be consequences LOL! Yup around here we specialize in talking bad about Amway losers and the Amway cult.
Yes, Anna -- I noticed that right away! When the Amway freak says "If you talk bad about Amway there will be consequences," my skin started to crawl. That was a THREAT, no different from an organized crime figure saying "I think you should do what I say, if you want to stay healthy."
DeleteAmway does use this kind of verbal and suggested violence as a way to intimidate IBOs. And that is also a definite sign of every cult.
If any Amway asshole makes that kind of threat to an IBO, I'd advise the IBO to answer this way: "So there will be consequences if I talk bad? Why don't you tell me RIGHT NOW what those consequences will be? Make the threat clear to me right here and now, so that I can call the police about it. Come on, you little up-line coward -- make the threat openly to me, if you have the balls to do it!"
Anonymous - we heard threats all the time from our sack of shit Platinum. Perhaps not directed at any one person but randomly like I know someone who can break the legs of any infidels. That type of threat. I know thugs. Whether or not these thugs are in the Amway cult is unknown. The more non violent threats would be directed at the cult followers in the room. A lot of the time it had to do with no socializing with the Ambot that just quit. With the implied undertone that there would be a severe scolding for anyone who disobeyed.
DeleteBut yes anyone who is threatened by a piece of shit Amway cult leader should call the cops. No one does though because of that worship thing and the brainwashing that they deserved it.
