A reader decides to even the score after an Amway loser wasted their time. Here's their Amway story:

Love your blog. Its hilarious and eye opening. I was reading your older blog
and thought I would like to share my story with you. I am an Indian, and I used
to work as independent management consultant for other business, I was doing
pretty good, so I decided to come to US for my masters degree and also lowkey
to get some connections for my consulting.
I was approached by a lady on LinkedIn, about a business opportunity. I, being a businessman myself, replied and agreed to meet with her and her husband. we talked about financials and mindset for business blah blah. then they gave me a book by Robert Kiyosaki, and asked me to meet again next week.
I read the book and found out it was about MLM, I was furious...... five fucking hours of meeting and I get hit with this shit, and here I was thinking maybe I am getting sponsors for my business expansion. Wasting 5 hours of a masters in engineering student and a businessman, where i get to sleep no more than 3-4 hours in night and work tirelessly remaining time.
I decided to waste there time, in next meeting I told them my financials, (some million rupees I saved for my education in US, around $500,000), and I think they saw me as a loose slot machine, So I became their "best" friend, spent countless hours with them, having drinks, nightouts, even spent a couple of nights in their house playing pool and drinking their overpriced shit XS drink (which I poured in their house plant when they are not looking, poor plant.... I am so sorry).
I was new in the US at that time and they were showing me around on their expense (the husband had a JOB, but was planning to leave in 3 months). this went on for 2 weeks, after two weeks they asked for my response and I told them, that I am a businessman and I do not put my foot in a sinking boat. they were very angry and started retaliating that they are not loosing money and I am the one who is going to regret about leaving.
I called my accountant, showed them that infact they are neck deep in horseshit and they are loosing money faster than a drunk in Las vegas casino. the wife started crying at that point. I told them good luck for their life and left. I think they are still with amway.
after reading your blogs that ambots are broke ass pieces of shits and don't spend money on other people, I think they did all of that because I am well off and they could use to recover all the money they lost on me when I become their downline and waste all my savings and income in buying from them. too bad for them, they counted their chickens too soon.

This is a fun story and all, but I'm having trouble believing it, frankly. A college student who gets only a few hours sleep per night has five hours wasted, so decides to waste dozens more hours getting his revenge? Working on his masters degree, but doesn't know his "their" from "there" and "losing" from "loosing"? Goes over his would-be recruiter's books (somehow) with his accountant (? somehow ?) and leaves the woman in tears with his rapier-like logic. Ri-i-ight.

I mean, I hate Amway too. Amway can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned. But let's now make up fantasies and call them reality, mkay?
Anonymous - I believe his story. Amway and Ambots cause a lot of rage. We've been doing this blog for a lot longer than we were in the Amway cult! The reader is from India so it's very possible English isn't his first language which is why there are errors. It's the Ambots who are educated in America and can barely string a sentence together that's a whole lot more fun to insult!

DeleteThe guy says that he is a business and engineering student, not an English Lit major. And as an Indian, naturally English is not his first language. He has the normal command of basic business English.
He doesn't say that he went over his would-be recruiter's books. He just says that he spoke to his own accountant. You don't need to look at somebody's books to understand that they are losing money. Any competent accountant will tell you that an MLM scheme is fraudulent.
I believe the Indian guy's story. It's plausible, it makes sense, and it goes along with everything that we know about Amway love-bombing and greed for cash.
Anonymous - I think so. Most people don't want a scammer wasting their time or stealing their money. A student has to create their own entertainment too when taking breaks from classes and studying. Playing with an Amway loser is a good form of entertainment. Been doing it myself for a lot of years now LOL!

ReplyDeleteHey, I was a college student once, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. I was even approached by an ambot trying to recruit me. I was working part time while putting myself through school (with help from Mom and Dad), and a coworker said I should come to a meeting where I'd meet these amazing people who are making tons of money in their spare time, and that anyone could do it. He even pulled out that famous chestnut: "You get out of it what you put into it."
The day I was supposed to go to this meeting, I figured out it was probably Amway, and called the guy up. Asked him point blank: "Is it Amway?" He admitted it was. I said, "No, thanks," and went back to studying for my solid state physics midterm. That's what busy college students do. They don't waste any time taking petty revenge because every waking minute is spoken for.
So yeah, I believe he got pissed off. Pissed off enough to make up a nice revenge story. But that part about calling in his accountant to go over their books and show them they're losing money, and making the woman cry...come on. What ambot EVER lets anyone look at their real numbers? They all know they're faking it, so they're going tell every lie in the book to avoid showing their would-be victims the reality behind the curtain. That's where this story lost credibility with me.
I liked the story. I just don't believe all of it.
But I like your stories even better, Anna. And those I believe!
Anonymous - it's possible he embellished a bit for entertainment sake or told it like he wished it had gone down as a matter of revenge but overall his story is very similar to others who've gotten an Amway pitch or got scammed out of their money.
DeleteYou got lucky. Most Ambots deny they're with Amway because of the company's bad reputation. Instead they say they're with WWDB or whatever cult sect they're part of because that name might not be as recognizable as a scam. Some will even mention the name of whatever fictional company name one of the assholes in their Amway upline chose. Most don't admit they're Amway cause they can kiss goodbye any money they might have scammed out of that victim.
A lot of college students are ingenious in thinking up ways to entertain themselves and others. To the point of becoming breaking news stories! Did you see the picture of that car hanging off the Golden Gate Bridge about 20 years ago courtesy of some students. Like who thinks that shit up?! Obviously they took some time off their studies to figure out the logistics and come up with a story. This guy might have checked with his accountant for an opinion and showed the accountant the Amway "business plan" you know the Amway brochure that says how much money you can make and everyone ignores the small print that says less than 1% of participants will make that money! Most accountants would warn their clients not to get involved with MLM scams like Amway.
The Indian guy DID NOT SAY that he called in his accountant to look over the Amway couple's books. All he said was that he "called his accountant." He probably just asked his accountant for advice about MLM schemes, and after that, he went back to the Amway couple and told them that they were losing money.
DeleteAnd why is is so incredible that the woman cried? Maybe she had a brain, and realized (after what the Indian guy told them) that she and her husband were indeed losing money. Crying is a normal response to the realization that one has been an idiot and a dupe.
That sounds about right Anonymous. She knows they're being scammed out of their money and an outsider is trying to make them see the light and they're being scammed. Sometimes it's hard to accept that you got scammed.
