The Cost Of Getting Sucked Into The Amway Cult

Thanks to AnonTB for providing some info on what to expect if signing up to Amway, advice for a woman whose husband is thinking of getting sucked into the cult:

1- You will need several hundred dollars a month to pay for product, books, tapes, meetings, rallies, gas. Ask him where that will come from, and what he/you will be sacrificing to pay for that. He may say that this phase won't last long, that you will soon be making enough money to cover expenses. Ask him to be specific: how many recruits do you need to break even, and how are you going to get those people?

2- The products are very expensive, and you will be buying far more product than you can use. If you don't buy products like this now, why are you going to be excited about buying them in the future, and why will you be excited about overbuying expensive products? If you can't get excited about the products, how successful will you be in convincing others to buy the products?
--> After the 3 week cooling off period, Instead of signing up as an IBO, ask your husband to just buy a bunch of product and use it for a month. See if his excitement for the product matches his excitement for the business "opportunity." That's a fair request. The business will still be there for him at the end of the month.

3- If you do become an IBO, your efforts will be in recruiting. Your earliest recruits will be people that you know. How will you feel about trying to sign up family/friends/neighbors by omitting key information that they need to make an informed decision, such as all the recurring monthly expenses (tools, web site, voicemail, meetings, excess product inventory, etc.)? This is called a lie of omission, and is essential to recruit people. Can you do this to people you know?

4- Your presenter mentioned he would not miss a meeting even if he was very sick with the flu. Ask yourself, why would you need to go to every meeting, even if you have no prospects there? Answer: there is no good reason, other than because they say that's what successful people do.

5- Tell your husband that if you don't join him as an IBO, Ambots have been known to try to get him to choose between you and Amway. Get him to commit to you that when this happens, he will leave the business. Not in a year. Not in a month. Now.

6- You mentioned that the Ambots you met were smart, educated people, too smart to fall for a bad opportunity. Therefore, it must be a good one. This is a fallacy of logic. This is what made Bernie Madoff able to convince lots of other smart people to give him $50 billion.

Don't EVER stop thinking for yourself or trusting your gut instincts.

  1. For number 3, the lies are one of the things that really got me. Definitely not going to lie to someone for the sake of soap!

    1. Hi Anonymous. What's really disgusting is the false hope these lying Amway assholes give to patients of terminal illnesses. That Amway products will cure them. These Amway scammers have no morals. Anything to make a buck.

  2. This is clear, logical, and intelligent advice from AnonTB.

Amway freaks will go into a shit-fit of spluttering rage when they read it, of course.

  4. People who are Avon distributors aren't asked to load up huge inventories of product that they can't sell easily.

But then again, Avon is actually an honest company.

    1. Anonymous - Avon actually sells products at good prices that people want to buy! I can't tell you how many good deals I've got from Avon over the years when I keep an eye on Avon sales and promotions. Stuff that you won't see happening with ScAmway. Yup and the Avon Lady (or maybe men too in this century!) don't need to stockpile inventory they can't unload the way Amway Ambots have to do.

  5. I'm just curious anna, what does the upline say when a ambot asks why he can't borrow another ambots cd's / books? Seems to me if you wanted to listen to that crap , each ambot could buy a different cd and then just swap it with another member when they are done, its not as if a person needs to relisten to the same one all the time

    1. Hi Kdiggydog. In addition to some of the responses below from Anonymous the first thing most Amway cult leaders would say something like - if you're a serious business builder you'll buy your own copy from us.

Because you can probably buy that same book for much cheaper on Amazon or eBay and maybe check it out of your library for free.

All that defeats the purpose of the Amway cult leaders making a profit from selling it to the Ambot and making a profit.

      Amway the Cult of Greed.

The main way the Amway cult leaders earn their income is through the Amway tool scam. What kind of profit will these shysters make if Ambots did sharesies or purchased/borrowed the item somewhere else?

  6. Dear Kdiggydog --

You'd be amazed at the asinine reasons that up-line will give you as to why you can't borrow or share CDs and books.

They'll say "You need your own copy, so that you can play it or read it over and over!"

They'll say "Your wife needs her own copy, so that she can play it or read it at the same when you're doing so at work!"

They'll say "You can't be satisfied with a used copy! You need to have a fresh one all your own!"

They'll say "You're not a serious businessman if you won't spend money for your own CDs and books!"

They'll say "Lending or sharing copies of CDs and books is a sign of laziness!"

They'll say "You have to be on Standing Order for CDs and other tools, because if you're not there's a chance you might miss one!"

It's all a total load of horseshit. The only reason your up-line insists that you buy your own tools is because he is getting a profit from their sale. Whatever else comes out of his mouth is a goddamned lie.

    1. Anonymous - yup those are all response the fucking assholes in the Amway upline will give.

Also buying multiple copies like you mentioned above. Ambot must have bought at least 3 copies of The Slight Edge. You know the Ambot bible that costs around $20 from the Amway cult sect and much cheaper everywhere else. Also many times he'd buy more than one CD of the same Amway asshole preaching a sermon.

Comments are moderated but we publish just about everything. Even brainwashed ambots who show up here to accuse us of not trying hard enough and that we are lazy, quitters, negative, unchristian dreamstealers. Like we haven’t heard that Amspeak abuse from the assholes in our upline!

If your comment didn’t get published it could be one of these reasons:
1. Is it the weekend? We don’t moderate comments on weekends. Maybe not every day during the week either. Patience.
2. Racist/bigoted comments? Take that shit somewhere else.
3. Naming names? Public figures like politicians and actors and people known in Amway are probably OK – the owners, Diamonds with CDs or who speak at functions, people in Amway’s publicity department who write press releases and blogs. Its humiliating for people to admit their association with Amway so respect their privacy if they’re not out there telling everyone about the love of their life.
4. Gossip that serves no purpose. There are other places to dish about what Diamonds are having affairs or guessing why they’re getting divorced. If you absolutely must share that here – don’t name names. I get too many nosy ambots searching for this. Lets not help them find this shit.
5. Posting something creepy anonymously and we can’t track your location because you’re on a mobile device or using hide my ass or some other proxy. I attracted an obsessed fan and one of my blog administrators attracted a cyberstalker. Lets keep it safe for everyone. Anonymous is OK. Creepy anonymous and hiding – go fuck yourselves!
6. Posting something that serves no purpose other than to cause fighting.
7. Posting bullshit Amway propaganda. We might publish that comment to make fun of you. Otherwise take your agenda somewhere else. Not interested.
8. Notice how this blog is written in English? That's our language so keep your comments in English too. If you leave a comment written in another language then we either have to use Google translate to put it into English so everyone can understand what you wrote or we can hit the Delete button. Guess which one is easier for us to do?
9. We suspect you're a troublemaking Amway asshole.
10. Your comment got caught in the spam filter. Gets checked occasionally. We’ll get to you eventually and approve it as long as it really isn’t spam.
