It's always good to know the sneaky tactics used by Amway losers and what bullshit Ambots are currently pulling off. A reader shares a story of getting tricked into attending an Amway cult meeting and how the army of Ambots made sure he stayed till the end!
Thanks for this blog. I recently had an Ambot try to recruit me, he was
good at it too. I started a business a couple of years ago and I was
at a networking meeting when another owner of a local (legit) business
started chatting me up. Seemed like a nice guy, said he likes to help
new business owners and thought we should meet up for coffee. Cool, I
thought, never hurts to talk to other business owners, always open to
advice. Meet with him, never a mention of Amway, only spoke about
business, goals, etc. He suggested I then read a book called "The Go -
Giver" and attend a meeting with him in a couple of nights to "meet
other like minded people who enjoy exchanging ideas on business and help
each other grow, similar to the theme of the book."
Cool, I
thought, always good to network and meet other business owners (notice
his clever wording, "like minded people" not business owners I realized
this in hindsight). Pull up to this meeting and am shocked at the
number of people attending, I thought it was more of an intimate setting
of successful business people. I go in, start introducing myself,
there are a bunch of people, but no business owners. I thought that
was weird and started to get an unsettled feeling, walk into a living
room stuffed full of chairs and see a white board..ok, really weird.
Guy who invited me starts talking, mostly about business philosophy. He
then starts asking people where they work and proceeds to follow up with
"Do you like it there, who wants to do that forever". Well, that is
just odd, why would you trash other people's professions, maybe they
like their employer. He then trashes his own, legit, business saying how
he hates working on projects and his clients. Then, at the end, he
starts talking about "how this business works" and lays out a "store"
and how he is retiring in 3 years. Oh, DAMN IT, this cat suckered me
into an Amway meeting. I get up to go to the bathroom (and leave) only
to find my car is literally blocked in...Yep, the dude had people park
at an angle behind me so I couldn't leave...Anyway, meeting ends, I
shake hands and sit in my car for 20 minutes until the other suckers
move their car and I can leave.
Dude blows up my phone for 2
weeks trying to set up a "follow up" meeting, this time with me and my
wife. To make matters worse, I had told him my wife works at the local
school and he looked her up online and started emailing her at her
school email (in fairness he CC'd me each time) I ended up having to
call the Chamber of Commerce that sets up the networking meetings to
complain and am told "this isn't the first complaint we got about him".
Point of story, ask a lot of questions if someone is wanting to
meet with you that you don't know, nobody does this for free. Crazy
how they manipulate their intentions as they know if they mention Amway,
nobody will meet with them. If you are in a "business" where you
cannot say its name for fear of alienating people, might want to
re-think your involvement.
It's amazing how absolutely desperate these Amway assholes are! They'll do or say anything to get you to one of their stupid meetings.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - yes it's sheer desperation that drives Amway losers. They know their sack of shit Platinum will give them a shit kicking if they don't bring new prospects to Amway cult meetings and buy Amway shit.
DeleteIf any stranger asks you to come to a "business meeting," always refuse, point-blank. Nine out of ten times it will be a disguised Amway come-on.
ReplyDeleteThey won't say the name "Amway," because when people hear it they involuntarily shudder.
Anonymous - yeah really. I can find random business meetings in my field if I want to attend one. Normally these are advertised in trade magazines and sometimes by email or just finding by looking at legitimate websites. Some creep stalking me at the grocery store or B&N who wants me to go to a "business meeting" that would be a big NO. It doesn't matter if it's a stranger or someone from your church, job, or school inviting you to a "business meeting". If they're secretive then it's going to be Amway or another pyramid scheme that they're too embarrassed to admit they're sucked into.
