What are the criteria for
qualifying someone to become an Amway IBO? Does anyone really know?
You would think qualifying an Amway prospect would be similar to going to a job
interview. Someone looking to hire an employee wants to bring in the right
person. Sometimes the person has to be experienced other times enthusiasm
and the right personality may be what a hiring manager is looking
for. They don’t want to bring the wrong person into the company. Some people
have difficulty learning new things and that can slow down other employees.
Sometimes people just don’t have the aptitude to do a job no matter how badly
they wish they could succeed. Hiring an unlikeable person can lower moral.
Logic would dictate that should hold true in Amway but reality shows
differently. The reality is IBOs are so desparate they’ll take anyone who shows
a teensy bit of interest.
Many times I heard at meetings to “qualify your prospect” before bringing them
to a board plan meeting but the speakers dropped the ball and didn’t say what
qualifying a prospect entailed.
So I’m here to tackle that question based on my observations of being stuck
hanging around and listening to these bastards.
1. Be a good liar.
2. Be a good salesperson - or have the aptitude and desire to become one.
3. Open to being brainwashed.
4. Be willing to put Amway as the most important thing in your life.
5. Be good at sucking up - your upline expects you to worship them as gods
6. Have disposable income
7. Have a credit card with a high limit
8. Desire to stay up late at night listening to meaningless bullshit from cult
leaders
9. Willing to drop everything if upline calls and demands to have their ass
kissed.
10. Able to devote 100 hours a month to Amway related events
11. A strong desire to fail (less than 1% of IBO’s make money)
12. Be a home owner so you can sell the house and use the equity to invest in
Amway
13. Enjoy listening to CDs with cult leaders spouting off dribble and bullshit
14. Enjoy hugging everyone you meet.
15. Ability to fake being all sweetie pie nice
16. Enjoy looking out of place wearing business suits
17. Enjoy stalking people in malls
If people don’t possess the above qualities or have the desire to learn to do
so, they will never become part of the 1% who make money as an Amway IBO.
As long as someone has a pulse - that is the only necessary qualification to be
drafted into the Amway cult.
Anna, the situation now in North America for recruiting new IBOs into Amway is desperate. Millions pf persons have heard the horror stories of what Amway is, and how the various AMO subsystems abuse and cheat their membership. Millions will just laugh and turn away if you even mention the name "Amway" to them.
ReplyDeleteSo right now, there really aren't any qualifications you need to join up. As long as you are a warm body with some available cash, an Amway IBO will seize you by the collar and beg you to join. You can be an axe-murderer or a pedophile, and the Amway IBO will want you as one of his down-line.
Anonymous - I'm sure IBO's are still reeling in prospects by saying their know a sharp businessman who has some great ideas or is a successful entrepreneur or some other stupid line to set up a meeting. I mean most people are probably open to learning about how others have succeeded in business ventures. Unfortunately in this case all they're getting sucked into is a pyramid scheme. And yes any company whose cult leaders and commissioned sales force put in as much effort as Amway to deny they're a pyramid scheme - IS a pyramid scheme. So IBO's will take any sucker they can get to sign up to Amway. And of course the most famous Amway IBO that I know of is a serial killer. The Green River Killer says Amway kept him so busy he cut back on murdering.
DeletePeople who sign up in Amway basically fall into two groups.
ReplyDeleteThe first are the sensible and intelligent persons who (in the beginning) think that Amway might be a useful source of extra income. These people drop out or go inactive pretty quickly. They are still sane enough to see reality.
The second are the obsessed and the fanatical and the borderline-deranged type for whom Amway becomes a cult and a new religion. Most of these people also drop out eventually, or finally go broke from the endless expenses, but it will take them a lot longer.
A very few of the second group do become successful, simply because of their fixation and fanatical persistence in recruiting new down-line. These types would probably have done well in any occupation since they are obsessive-compulsive "doers and shakers." but their lives become totally centered on the Amway "Plan," and Amway thinking, and Amway policies, and the Amway world-view. They may be affluent, but the are affluent androids, living a robotic life.
Anonymous - for many years people have been taking on second and third jobs just to cover expenses or for extra spending or saving money. It's not unusual for people to also look at gig income like driving an Uber or working for Door Dash. So when a scammer from Amway shows up and pitches how they can make an extra $100,000 a year in their spare time working 10 to 15 hours a week it sounds attractive. Especially if you are minimum wage earner and have no hope in hell of even making a quarter of that annually in your job. Most people figure out pretty quickly - within months - that they got scammed by Amway. They have some financial sense and figure out they're losing money and the only possibility they have to make money in Amway is by scamming other people. Something that doesn't sit right with their moral compass.
DeleteYour second group of people, the tiny fraction of 1% of Amway participants who do make money, is the ruthless pursuit of signing up more downline and selling Amway's overpriced shitty products. These people have to be the best damned liars and scammers to make money in this pyramid scheme and have zero morals and don't give a shit about destroying other people's lives as they claw their way up the pyramid.
