Whose Advice To Take? An Expert Or A Fucking Loser In The Amway Upline

Further to the post about “counselling with upline”.

As people gain life experience they learn to sort through good and bad advice, take what works for them and reject the rest. Counselling with qualified financial advisors or other professionals can be smart for your business and personal life.

A lot of people have similar goals: get out of debt, put money in the bank, buy a house, make wise investments, and retire comfortably not worrying about finances. Those are basics. Some people will have different financial goals, perhaps buying a motorcycle or a jet plane or starting their own charitable foundation.

There are many paths to reach the finish line. Throughout the years I have asked for and taken advice from persons more experienced than I am. Some of the advice works, others not so good. When asked I have even offered advice. Never on the stock market! Sometimes on the ponies at the racetrack or my favorite slot machine!

Prior to getting involved in Amway, Ambot was debt free. Pulling off moves he hoped to impress his upline, he started to charge, charge, charge all these shitty Amway products. Crap that we never had purchased before. We rarely buy bottled water. Now Ambot was buying it by multiple case loads costing ten times more than water at the grocery store. Did the water taste any better? Nope. Water is water. It didn’t taste gross, neither does the water we buy at the grocery. Vitamins up the ying yang. We eat a fairly healthy diet, lots of produce, we never needed vitamins before. And on and on it went. And up and up went his credit card bill.

I’ve read several books from financial experts and one of my current favorites is author David Bach. He writes The Automatic Millionaire and the Finish Rich series. I highly recommend his books.

One day Ambot and I were out for a drive. He was at the wheel of my car. He’s telling me his upline Emerald said to take out a home equity line of credit to pay off the credit card. I told him David Bach recommends finding a zero interest or low interest credit card and transferring the credit card debt to that one card. Ambot was outraged that I dare suggest something different than what the fucking assholes in the Amway upline counselled. He floored the accelerator and we flew along going about double the 40mph speed limit with me screaming at him to slow down. He was going so fast that an apple I had in the shopping bag in the back seat flew out and exploded on the back window.

Like just give more reasons to hate fucking Amway and the fucking assholes in the Amway upline! Now I have to clean apple guts off the fucking window!

I’m happy to say we never took out the home equity LOC so he could pay off his credit card. I knew as soon as he paid it down he would start charging Amway shit on it again.

The fact that he got so outraged that a financial expert could come up with a different plan than his beloved Emerald is mind boggling. The control those Amway cult leaders have on their flock is frightening and horrific.

And one more time from marriedtoanambot let’s just send another big old FUCK YOU out to Amway Scamway and their scammer army of Ambots.

  1. Dear Anna --

Excuse my financial ignorance, but one question: when you say that up-line suggested "a home equity line of credit," is that the same thing as a second mortgage on your house?

    1. LOL Anonymous- I’m not as financially literate as I should be. At least I’m not an Amway Ambot who goes around pretending to be a financial genius. LOL! I did 2 trades on the stock market this morning.... How many Ambots did that today?

Seeing as how I’ve never done either google is my friend.so I can make sure I got it straight. I found a piece on the San Francisco chronicle but maybe Google was picking something geographically close.

Home equity line of credit and 2nd mortgage are kind of the same thing cause you’re borrowing money based on how much equity you have in your house. it’s different in how the money is disbursed. The 2nd mortgage you get all at once and you get a repayment schedule. With the heloc you take the funds out of your bank account as needed and you have a minimum monthly payment depending on how much you took so kind of like how a credit card works if you have a balance.

  2. It's interesting that when your husband was in Amway, he bought lots of their bottled water and vitamins. I think Amway up-line encourages this, because water and pills can be easily consumed on a pretty regular basis, and therefore won't necessarily take up a huge amount of space in your spare room or basement or garage.

That's not true for other Amway products. How much of that stupid SA8 or LOC will you be normally using in a month? If you order it regularly, the stuff will just pile up.

Since all of the LOS subsystems (WWDB, Network 21, BWW, and the others) don't emphasize sales to outsiders, they have to get you into the habit of self-consumption of Amway products. Since you drink and use water every day, and take vitamins pretty much every day, those things will disappear quickly -- unlike some goddamned Amway water-softener or blender or other piece of useless shit.

But let's get back to your husband. You have said that his up-line was a basic loser, much younger than your husband, and with no really good job or prospects. In fact, your up-line sounds like some little unsuccessful nobody. And yet your husband Ambot was prepared to take the guy's advice on a major financial question!

I simply don't see how somebody with an independent business, pulling in a six-figure annual income, with an energetic wife who is very sharp on money matters, could have allowed himself to be roped into something as fucking stupid as Amway!

More and more it appears to me that the core of the Amway sickness lies in cultic mind-control and psychological weakness. Something is driving otherwise highly intelligent persons to drop whatever they are doing and join this sick, corrupt, money-scamming cult called Amway.

    1. Hi Anonymous- there’s a huge push at Amway cult meetings for Ambots to buy vitamins, water and XS because they have high PV. It’s all part of the brainwashing that they’ll reach 100 PV faster and be eligible to get a commission check from Scamway for about $10. Keeping in mind that the ratio is about $3 for 1 PV so the Ambot must buy at least $300 in shitty overpriced Amway products to qualify for $9 or &10 commission.

Yes that arrogant prick is a nobody loser Hitler in training. I mean absolutely horrendous the mind control techniques used to make my husband want to take advice from this fucking Amway asshole. Motherfucking moron. Slimy troublemaking rat faced bastard. And those are his good qualities. Goes downhill from there.

Amway is all about sell the hope not the soap. The sales pitch is how rich you’ll be in 2 years with bazillions of dollars rolling in from Amway every month. Like you have to be really brainwashed to believe that billshit. I just hate cults and how they fuck up people’s lives.

  3. I feel badly that your Ambot’s thinking is so distorted that he can’t understand basic finance. His upline is proposing that he take out a loan secured against your home as opposed to using funds from an unsecured loan (the credit card). Throw into the mix that helocs or second mortgages involve hefty fees, and the upline’s directive is nonsensical. Look, I think the no or low interest credit card in and of itself is a bad idea. There must be a plan to liquidate the credit card debt, and as fast as you can. I suspect that is difficult because any rational debt reduction plan would necessarily involve getting out of the Amway business. In any event, good luck to you.

    1. Hi roger. It’s also got to do with brainwashing Amway Ambots to discard advice or information that comes from outside sources. The Amway cult leaders brainwash the Ambots to believe they’re the only ones who have their best interests at heart. Someone like me who’s not brainwashed says that financial advice is fucked up. And then that starts a whole new fight because I have a different opinion than the Amway cult leader.

The emotional impact of the Amway cult is what this blog is all about. And the financial distress too. It can take years to recover from being scammed by Amway. And the whole disbelief thing when former Amway cult followers realize those Ambots were never really their friends. They just wanted money out of you.

  4. A quick flash for all readers: At David Brear's blog ("The American Dream Made Nightmare") there is an excellent BBC documentary called "Ellie Undercover." It is an in-depth study of the lies behind MLMs and how they are cultic in their control methods. Be sure to watch it!

  5. Hi Anna,

I am a frequent reader of your blog, and an occassional commentor (I have a friend who drove two states away through a blizzard to go to some Amway convention).

I find it fascinating (and very sad and disturbing) how these ambots look up to their up-lines for advice. My Ambot friend frequently refers to his up-line as a sort of counselor who he likes to consult with for advice. I openly questioned him once asking if he is allowed to make his own financial decisions. He told me he likes the guidance that his up-line provides. Only once has he actually used the word up-line with me in a conversation, the one time he did was an accident and he quickly tried to hide it. Ambots try to disguise what they are really involved in, it seems.

    1. Hi Anonymous. I remember you and the friend who drove through the blizzard.

There was another blogger who’s gone away who used to cover all Amway stories including some killed in car crashes coming home from Amway meetings. Probably fell asleep at the wheel.

You know it’s one thing to ask your friends for advice and opinions and keep it in mind as part of your decision. It’s another thing to ask the fucking assholes in the Amway upline for permission to do or buy anything. Financial decisions that most adults can make on their own. Should I buy apples or oranges? Not until I get permission from some asshole upline who will tell the Ambot to buy Nitrilite vitamins instead of fresh produce. That way they can all make a few pennies commission on the sale.

Amway is a fucking creepy cult!

Comments are moderated but we publish just about everything. Even brainwashed ambots who show up here to accuse us of not trying hard enough and that we are lazy, quitters, negative, unchristian dreamstealers. Like we haven’t heard that Amspeak abuse from the assholes in our upline!

If your comment didn’t get published it could be one of these reasons:
1. Is it the weekend? We don’t moderate comments on weekends. Maybe not every day during the week either. Patience.
2. Racist/bigoted comments? Take that shit somewhere else.
3. Naming names? Public figures like politicians and actors and people known in Amway are probably OK – the owners, Diamonds with CDs or who speak at functions, people in Amway’s publicity department who write press releases and blogs. Its humiliating for people to admit their association with Amway so respect their privacy if they’re not out there telling everyone about the love of their life.
4. Gossip that serves no purpose. There are other places to dish about what Diamonds are having affairs or guessing why they’re getting divorced. If you absolutely must share that here – don’t name names. I get too many nosy ambots searching for this. Lets not help them find this shit.
5. Posting something creepy anonymously and we can’t track your location because you’re on a mobile device or using hide my ass or some other proxy. I attracted an obsessed fan and one of my blog administrators attracted a cyberstalker. Lets keep it safe for everyone. Anonymous is OK. Creepy anonymous and hiding – go fuck yourselves!
6. Posting something that serves no purpose other than to cause fighting.
7. Posting bullshit Amway propaganda. We might publish that comment to make fun of you. Otherwise take your agenda somewhere else. Not interested.
8. Notice how this blog is written in English? That's our language so keep your comments in English too. If you leave a comment written in another language then we either have to use Google translate to put it into English so everyone can understand what you wrote or we can hit the Delete button. Guess which one is easier for us to do?
9. We suspect you're a troublemaking Amway asshole.
10. Your comment got caught in the spam filter. Gets checked occasionally. We’ll get to you eventually and approve it as long as it really isn’t spam.
