The Amway bigshots in Ada, Michigan carefully distance themselves from all of those half-assed "functions." They discourage the promoters from using the name "Amway" when arranging and promoting the functions, and they always state that Amway has no official connection with any of them. The "functions" are solely done and run by the various AMO subsystems.

They can say "We don't handle those functions, and we have no responsibility for what is said there." And the second advantage is that WWDB or any other AMO can say whatever the hell they like at the functions, no matter how absurd, outrageous, and false.
It's a mutually advantageous rip-off for both Amway and the AMO subsystems. The only ones getting hurt are the IBOs who attend.
