Maybe its the language barrier?
So I checked dictionary.com for a definition of scam:
a confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; swindle
For those of you who don’t know a confidence game is how “con” or “con man” came into being, just a shortened version of confidence game. If you are running a confidence game you are befriending someone and gaining their confidence so that you can swindle them out of their money or other belongings.
Just like what happened to us - or more specifically my Ambot! - when we were in Amway.
So I thought I would break it down for my ignorant Indian visitor on who is really running a scam here.

To recap I do not charge anyone a fee either annually or per visit to read this blog. I do not sell any products to visitors. Who knows what the future holds? Ha ha. Really I got nothing to sell. I do not ask any readers to send me money or material possessions. Oh. If anyone has any leftover Halloween or Christmas candies they want to get rid of I’d be happy to take them off your hands! Ha ha!
The thing about Anna Banana is that I do not try to swindle money or other items off any of my readers. I am not collecting anything other than information about what really goes on when a person is involved in the Amway cult. I am not lying about how much money can be made in Amway. How can I be running a scam if I don’t receive some kind of financial benefit? What’s in it for me?
I’m afraid I have fallen victim to a brainwashed ambot who doesn’t know they’re being scammed. In their anger and confusion this anonymous poster from India is twisting the truth for their own benefit and accusing me of running a scam.
It’s how Amway Ambots use the PeeWee Herman handbook as their bible “I know you are but what am I”.
People can come here and read Married to an Ambot blog for free. They are not being fucked over and ordered to hand over some cash before reading the next post.
Very odd. Perhaps Anonymous from Bangalore, Karnataka, India can come back and clarify how much money I’m earning from this scam of a blog because so far I ain’t seen a penny!
Am from Bangalore too and have been binge reading this blog all evening:). Unlike the "Anonymous / Ignoramus from Bangalore", I find this blog very revealing and educational.
ReplyDeleteA suggestion / request for the next post - you may want to write about intervention strategies to get ambots out of this cult. I have a couple of cousins who are into this nonsense. Hopefully, we can get them back before they fritter away their wealth.
As a parent, one of the things that I am trying to instil in my children is the ability to critically assess this world and make sound decisions based on logic rather than hype. Teaching the about Amway and other cults is right at the top of that list.
Keep up the good work. Am really hoping that the one idiot who posted from Bangalore doesn't set a standard for the rest of us ;).
Hi Anonymous. Thanks for stopping by and reading the blog. And I'm sorry to hear about your cousins stuck inside the Amway pyramid scheme.
DeleteIf I had a nickel for everytime someone asked how to get their loved one out of Amway or intervention strategies - I'd be an Amway millionaire by now! Sometimes all you can do is let people make their own mistakes.
Most Ambots quit in a few months when they realize they're frittering their money away and no one wants to buy their shitty overpriced Amway products and they can't sign up downline and then they accept they got scammed. Some people take longer than others. When they hit rock bottom and lose all their money and not have any more room on their credit cards to buy more Amway shit that could be the wake up call. Once the Ambot has run out of money and unable to commit to the minimum PV purchases that month he'll quit. He has no choice. Its like membership anywhere else. If you can't pay that month's gym membership you got to quit.
It sounds like you're doing a good job parenting and if your children can see what's happening with your cousins going through financial and emotional distress because of Amway hopefully that'll be a scare tactic for them to stay out of pyramid schemes.
You should read Shyam's blog because it's more focused on Amway in India http://corporatefraudswatch.blogspot.com/
Also download a free ebook called Merchants of Deception. There's a link on the right side of this page under more information about Amway. A former Emerald who according to the lies told in Amway should be making more than $100,000 a year is only making around $30,000 and that's with 1000 people in his downline. It's a real life horror story. See if you can get your cousins to read it too. Good luck to you!
