Not Sniping Prospects at the Mall

If you're looking for something pointless to do, try this.

One night the Platinum sack of shit called a “special meeting” for a select small group of IBO’s. Unfortunately we were on the summons list and met up with other ambots at a mall. The Platinum gave instructions. We had to approach people and ask for directions on how to get somewhere. For example if we saw someone drinking coffee we had to ask them where that coffee shop was located. Or we had to approach random people and ask them if they had a cell phone and if there was there a store in the mall that sold cell phones. That type of thing. There was a thirty minute time limit and we had to get back to the meeting place and have our responses either written down enroute or we could write them down once we got back to show to the Platinum as proof we’d approached people.

The exercise was to randomly start a conversation asking directions because most people are open to assisting others to get them where they need to go. It was kind of funny the man we asked about a cell phone pulled his out and showed us all the features and spent some time telling us about it and where he’d bought it. For all that time spent chatting with him about a phone Ambot never got his phone number!

I suppose this little exercise was to teach us how to approach strangers and strike up a conversation. None of the conversations we had asking for directions expanded to an Amway pitch or asking for a phone number. That wasn’t part of the strike up a conversation exercise.

I think the real point of this exercise was to see who’d be the first ass kisser to bring a coffee back to the Platinum.

Just another way to waste an hour on Amway. Got to fill those 10 to 15 hours a week somehow!

  1. For that exercise did your ambot hubby have to wear a dorky suit?

  2. Yes Ambot was wearing the dorky suit that his upline Eagle had him drive 100 miles away to purchase because that was where they had the best deals!

    1. That sounds so silly. It seems to me that if you want to seem approachable, they'd have you wear casual, yet stylish clothes. Some nutjob in a suit walking up to me with "crazy eyes" is going to make me run the other direction hahaha!

  3. lol being the ambot wife is tough. Trying to imagine many wives of ambots telling their hubby going to the mall prospecting is so embarassing.

  4. Husbands are always doing stuff to embarrass their wives!

I can never get Ambot to go with me at the mall. But if the hallowed upline summons him - he's all there! Yet another thing about this business to piss me off.

  5. Anna;

Ain't it the truth? We used to have prospecting meetings doing essentially the same thing. All I got was some gal trying to get us signed up in Primerica? ha ha

I hated those meetings. I felt so sleezy.

Guess I hadn't heard enough CASSETTE TAPES!

    1. LOL that's great. I wonder what happens when 2 MLM zombies for different companies meet randomly while trying to recruit/sell. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe they both take a step back and think "Holy crap..is THAT how I sound? I have to get out of this nonsense asap!"

  6. We never prospected anyone at a mall. Just met there the one time to see who could talk to the most people about getting directions within 30 minutes.

Primerica! Now there's another story. We knew someone in that many years ago and she was trying to recruit me to being a financial advisor or whatever they're called. At the time I worked for a financial institution and we had to sign a code of conduct agreement so I told her it was a conflict of interest for me, which was true, I could have lost my job. Are they still around any more?

  7. Anna, Premerica is alot like amway in the sense they really promote the tools, seminars, rallies etc. I been to one of their meetings and everybody was wearing these cheap suits. Most where middle age men claiming they where big shots in the business. Yes they are still around.

  8. Is Primerica still around? Ever hear of google?

I laughed out loud at this post. Our group was so annoying we got a letter from corporate "banning" us from Barnes and Nobel... apparently their customers were getting sick of being prospected by us ambots.

    Ahhhh good times...

  10. For years when I went into certain coffee shops, I'd look around furtively and hope no one recognized me.

Gads I was prepared to lie thru my teeth in denial.

"Not me, Officer. Those dirty amway scalawags. I'll let you know if I spot any."

    slink............slink..............run out of store

  11. Lobotomized for Amway - love that name!

Banned from Barnes & Noble? Your group must have been really agressive!

  12. Anonymous, that's pretty funny you can't even enjoy your favorite coffee shops any more due to your past association with Amway!

  13. Actually, I think Quixtar (Amway US' name between 1999-2008?) once sent a letter banning IBOs from prospecting at Barnes and Noble:

  14. Thanks for the link. They don't show the date on that letter so it could have been sent anytime while the Quixtar name was still in use. I never saw the letter and of course the problem with letters like these sent to Platinums is that they decide what information to pass downline. Its all part of the information control.

I keep saying I need to get to B&N cause a couple of books I want were released in December and its been a couple of months since I shopped there! I never did shop online at B&N even with the Quixtar card for the discount because I still found prices slightly better at Amazon for the same book. It sucked that they didn't give that discount when you came inside their shop.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I don't blame B&N. Geez, when I go into a book store I just want to be left the hell alone.

Can't (and don't) go in to mall anymore w/o those crazy kiosk kooks chasing you all over trying to squirt melon flavored goo on you. Crap, I have to duck into a store like I'm on some covert operation just to get away from them.

When you come out of that store, you look like a drug dealer scanning left and right trying to make your get-a-way.

Maybe the stores have figured this out and they hired these kooks.

At a mall, or whereever, when someone is suddenly overly friendly, my amway antennae go up and I know what's coming. I feel so sorry for these people. As soon as they figure out they can't gig me (frog huntin' term), they move on. It's exhausting just watching them.

Afterwards they'll meet at some coffee shop and talk about how C.O.R.E. they were. They didn't get any phone numbers, but, hey, they think it (the facts) don't matter cuz' they were willing to do the work.

    sigh

  16. Fortunately I've never been bugged by an IBO in a B&N but maybe its just the luck of the draw what time I go in.

Yeah that's pretty funny trying to run away from the perfume snipers!

  17. Why aren't you as OUTRAGED by the FUCKING perfume snipers as you are by the Amway IBOs?

  18. Gee Tex it sounds like you've been sprayed one too many times by the mall's perfume sniper!

I'd rather get hit with Chanel No.5 than XS!

  19. Just looking for equal cussing for similar experiences. LOL

  20. Tex;

Said perfume snipers most likely are not mlm in nature; just some poor guy or gal trying to sell stuff. They aren't attempting to sign me up to 'save money' by buying from my own store.

I was just making fun of IBOs acting in the same desparate way when out contacting.

We are your friends here; on the same side.

It seems we have disappointed you by not going in on your lawsuit with you. I, for one, cannot take the possible repeurcussions.

I'd rather take pot shots at IBOs who come in here looking down their noses at us. It's great therapy.

    Peace and CASSETTE TAPES

  21. Anonymous - you've opened the can now!

Do you know what side Tex is on? If so please let us know! We're all trying to figure that one out. Of course Tex will show up and say that he's on the side of truth and justice.

What I find incredible is that Tex shows up here and on other forums and insults everyone and then tries to get them to join up with his lawsuit. I think he needs to reread How to win friends and influence people!!! Ha ha!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. No, I can't figure out where he's coming from.

I can't win for losing with my posts.

    Again, Peace & CASSETTE TAPES

  23. Don't lose any sleep over it. I think Tex is a misogynist. You wouldn't know it by the amount of time he spends on my blog. Check out the times he shows up here. I think the first thing he does in the morning is get his ass over to my blog to see what kind of idiotic comments showed up while he was sleeping!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anon,

All you have to do is talk with me on a conference call, and can even keep your number confidential, if you can handle the "possible repercussions!" LOL

  25. Love the blog, got sniped by a "businessman" in B&N a few months ago, he was very shady about telling me anything about his "business" - Can I see a website? - NOPE - What do you sell? - MILLIONS of products - What profit do you make? -WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT IN A MEETING WITH SOME IMPORTANT PEOPLE. It started me off on this wonderous adventure of finding out about Amway - I'm prepared now for the next time!

    Al

  26. Al - that is how ambots operate. Everything is very hush hush and secretive. If this was something they were actually proud of they'd let you know right away they're in Amway but because Amway is so scummy they don't want to scare people off. If you go to a board plan meeting it might take an hour or more to hear the speaker say Amway. Sometimes they don't say Amway at all. Nothing like being honest and upfront!

Interesting that IBOs are still sniping prospects at B&N. Report them to management if it happens again.

Thanks for stopping by to read my blog. If you have a significant other a big thank you on their behalf too for not joining this scam. If you sign up with Amway it only brings misery to your family.

  27. Heck, I agreed to meet him for a coffee to talk about the "business" and that caused trouble with my wife, I think her intuition was better than mine. I asked the guy if I could look at his website before the meeting and he said.. I PREFER TO TALK ABOUT BUSINESS FACE TO FACE (err, don't you just sell stuff on a website?), I FIND IT'S WHO YOU DO BUSINESS WITH RATHER THAN WHAT YOU DO (that line makes no sense at all) then the classic IF YOU WANT TO OWN YOUR OWN BUSINESS YOU SHOULD ATTEND THIS MEETING.. no thanks, I'll pass on that opportunity!

    Al

    ReplyDelete
  28. Al - yes they always want to meet for coffee. You'd think it was a pick up from an online dating site!

Most women are analytical and look at the numbers and think it looks good on paper but doubt the reality of actually finding enough people to put it into action.

The upline says all you have to do is find 6 people and they find 6 people and so on and son on and by the end of the year you'll be making $100,000. Easier said than done!

I'm sure your wife is very happy you passed on the Amway opportunity. It has saved her a lot of grief.

Comments are moderated but we publish just about everything. Even brainwashed ambots who show up here to accuse us of not trying hard enough and that we are lazy, quitters, negative, unchristian dreamstealers. Like we haven’t heard that Amspeak abuse from the assholes in our upline!

If your comment didn’t get published it could be one of these reasons:
1. Is it the weekend? We don’t moderate comments on weekends. Maybe not every day during the week either. Patience.
2. Racist/bigoted comments? Take that shit somewhere else.
3. Naming names? Public figures like politicians and actors and people known in Amway are probably OK – the owners, Diamonds with CDs or who speak at functions, people in Amway’s publicity department who write press releases and blogs. Its humiliating for people to admit their association with Amway so respect their privacy if they’re not out there telling everyone about the love of their life.
4. Gossip that serves no purpose. There are other places to dish about what Diamonds are having affairs or guessing why they’re getting divorced. If you absolutely must share that here – don’t name names. I get too many nosy ambots searching for this. Lets not help them find this shit.
5. Posting something creepy anonymously and we can’t track your location because you’re on a mobile device or using hide my ass or some other proxy. I attracted an obsessed fan and one of my blog administrators attracted a cyberstalker. Lets keep it safe for everyone. Anonymous is OK. Creepy anonymous and hiding – go fuck yourselves!
6. Posting something that serves no purpose other than to cause fighting.
7. Posting bullshit Amway propaganda. We might publish that comment to make fun of you. Otherwise take your agenda somewhere else. Not interested.
8. Notice how this blog is written in English? That's our language so keep your comments in English too. If you leave a comment written in another language then we either have to use Google translate to put it into English so everyone can understand what you wrote or we can hit the Delete button. Guess which one is easier for us to do?
9. We suspect you're a troublemaking Amway asshole.
10. Your comment got caught in the spam filter. Gets checked occasionally. We’ll get to you eventually and approve it as long as it really isn’t spam.
