How to be a Good Amway Cult Leader

Here are my observations based on observing our sack of shit Platinum on what qualities a person must possess if they want to be a good Amway Cult Leader.

If you don’t possess these qualities or unable to be coachable and learn them then Amway is a bad career choice. Well.....Amway is a bad choice all around no matter what your aspirations are!

  1. Absolute dictatorship. This was mostly clear to me from our sack of shit Platinum who we heard speak more than we heard any other speaker, Emerald or Diamond. He demanded everyone in his downline to “ask permission” before doing anything. Constantly telling us to “submit to upline” and never question upline.
  2. No accountability. Its OK to brag about your accomplishments, bank account, material possessions, business profits, etc but never show proof to anyone who asks. If anyone in your downline asks for proof fall back on “never question upline”.
  3. Intolerance for questions. “Never question upline! Who do you think you are asking me something like that! Everything I say is the truth!”
  4. Refusal to disclose financial information regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement. Our sack of shit Platinum never showed us none of his financial information though he wanted to see all of ours.
  5. Incite unreasonable fear about the world outside of Amway. Our Platinum was always preaching about impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and all things negative. All the time! What else is out there except Amway? The answer to everyone’s prayers. Financial security for the rest of your life. Everyone else is doomed to have a J.O.B. and work for someone else.
  6. Must be able to lecture long sermons about negativity. Negativity is the main topic at Amway meetings - doom and gloom, businesses shutting down, social security won’t be there when you retire, etc.
  7. Must be good at insults, particularly mocking people who leave Amway. There is no legitimate reason to leave, not when success is right around the corner. Amway cult followers are always wrong in leaving and besides that they are also negative and evil. A good Platinum cult leader must ensure his cult followers understand that the people who leave Amway are quitters, losers, broke losers, negative, dream stealers, etc.
  8. Promote ostracism. Ensure that IBO’s understand they are not allowed to associate with former friends who have quit the Amway cult.
  9. Must be good at abusing cult followers. Hurling insults and then telling the ambot you are doing this for their own good and you still love them.
  10. Must be good at destroying relationships. Platinums in the Amway cult must learn to separate the ambot from their friends and family.
  11. Must be comfortable destroying other people’s finances, including but not limited to encouraging cult followers to run up credit card debt, take out line of credit or bank loans, telling them to skip mortgage payments so they can buy more Amway products or attend the next function, etc.
  12. Good at inflicting emotional distress. This can be a combination of destroying marriages, causing bankruptcy, foreclosure, alienating cult followers from their friends and family, and anything else they can think of to cause unhappiness and stress in the lives of the cult followers.
  13. Good at doling out punishment to cult followers who refuse to leave their wives or otherwise disobey the cult leader’s instructions.
  14. Must always be RIGHT. No one is allowed to win an argument with the cult leader who is all knowing and always right. The news media and Internet are always wrong especially if they have different information than the Amway cult leader. The only one who knows the truth is the Amway cult leader. Everything and everyone else is wrong.
  15. Able to control information as a means of brainwashing. Must be able to brainwash all cult followers to believe that the Amway cult leader is always telling the truth and the information must never be questioned. Do not believe any information from sources outside of Amway cult leaders. The cult leader must master the ability to control information in order to remove the cult follower’s ability to think for themselves.
  16. Good at deception. Very important for promoting the Amway scam.
  17. Ability to discredit an information source instead of debating the truth. Must excel at diversion techniques and character assassination techniques to distract cult followers from the truth.
  18. Must have a huge ego and the ability to find many cult followers to stroke it.
  19. Ability to use sleep deprivation as a means of brainwashing. This is done by keeping ambots at Amway cult meetings up to 1 or 2 or 3 in the morning until they are so tired that they’re willing to agree everything they hear at that hour is the truth.
  20. Ability to argue for hours that Amway is not a pyramid scheme.
  21. Good at love bombing - arranging instant friends for new cult members, lots of hugging, smiles, nicey nice behavior, etc.
  22. Good salesmanship - must particularly be good at bullying people into buying overpriced products that they don’t want or need.
  23. Knowledge of bible and biblical terms. All cult leaders must convince their followers that they are doing the Amway business all in the name of Jesus or God and Jesus wants you to do the Amway business. Must be good at twisting biblical references to suit Amway’s purposes. Love thyself first. Love thy money second.
  24. No conscience. Very important not to have a conscience when you are in Amway and if you want to be an Amway cult leader because you are scamming people out of their money, lying to them, being negative, destroying families, and causing emotional and financial distress to others.
  25. Must be greedy. All good Amway cult leaders must be obsessed with money and material possessions.
  26. Must have a screwy, unbalanced, and evil mindset. Normal, well balanced, compassionate human beings need not apply to be cult leaders in Amway..
  27. Ability to paint a dream land fantasy in the eyes of the cult followers of the lives full of riches they’ll have in 2 to 5 years with millions of dollars in residual income flowing in each month to easily afford their new luxurious lifestyles all thanks to Amway. In other words, the ability to sell the hope not the soap.
  28. Must strictly follow Amway’s cult leader slogan: “Lie and deny.” That is the secret to success in Amway.
  29. Must be good at bullshitting. This includes lying about your own (imaginary) accomplishments, pumping people up by whipping the crowd into a frenzy of excitement about belonging to the Amway cult.
  30. Ability not to care about who you step on as long as you make a buck.
  31. Most important. Must be able to lie and deny that Amway is a cult. The truth about the secret Amway cult must not be revealed until new recruits have been signed up and the brainwashing begins.
My list is based on my observations and it might not be a list of qualities that the Amway corporation necessarily wants their Platinums to have but this is the reality of how they turn out and behave. Amway the corporation turns a blind eye to this behavior - namely abuse from the upline - and refuses to take action against the troublemakers. Chop off a Platinum and there goes a stream of income. Its this kind of IBO antics and bloggers like myself who reveal them that contributes to giving Amway a bad name. Most companies take responsibility for the actions of their employees. Not Amway. Rather than take complaints seriously at the head office they prefer disgruntled customers and former employees to take to the Internet to make sure everyone searching for information gets the real picture. Being a good corporate citizen goes right out the window here!

Not everybody loves Platinum cult leaders the way Amway does!

Some of them, like myself, expose them on the Internet so everyone knows what hell awaits if they get involved in Amway thanks to lying sack of shit destructive Platinums!

And from marriedtoanambot let’s just send another big old FUCK YOU out to Amway Scamway and their scammer army of Ambots.

  1. Great list. All true. And add on top of it that the need to, no matter how hard the downline works, no matter how many people they prospect, no matter how to the letter they do as they are told and taught, no matter how many hours, time and dollars they sink into it, always tell them the reason they still haven't made money is because they are not doing it right. The "business" is infallible, so it is ALWAYS the fault of the downline that they aren't walking the beaches of the world 5 years later (assuming they still have any possessions left to hock to stay in the "business" by that point).

    1. Thanks Dave. We can always come up with a few more qualities a Platinum Amway cult leader must possess if we spend a little more time on it!

  2. Ho....leee... Shit! So I come home from my JOB today (which is awesome) and there it is. They slid a flyer under my door! Tell me what this sounds like. It was in spanish so I will translate. Would you like to earn $200-$500 per week without having to leave what you are doing? It then states a date and time at a hotel where the meeting is. As well as a name and phone number to make a reservation. Thank god I wasnt home, or else I may have had some choice words for these individuals! Of course it would be horrible to call this number at midnight to confirm their reservation in hell.

    1. Oh no! And rather presumptuous that they gave the invite in Spanish. What if you didn't understand it? What if you got the invite in Chinese?

I last got an invite a little over a year ago - in English. Typical Amspeak that ff course avoided saying Amway because the liars don't want you to know beforehand. They want to tell you all about the awesome business opportunity before they drop the dirty word.

Check out the links in these posts for inspiration on making that midnight phone call!

  4. I was part of this cult mindset for 5 years. I was susceptible because at the time I was not grounded in truth.

The bottom line: Amway is a false religion. They cut & paste out of the bible & distort the truth for their own purposes.

Luckily God opened my eyes & I was able to escape this hell.

    1. Anonymous - congratulations on getting out of the Amway cult after 5 years. I imagine the longer you're in the more brainwashed you get. It must be a big relief to have your life back under your own control now and not under the control of your Amway cult leader.

    2. Did you make any money in those 5 years?

    3. If they had a job or a real business probably did make lots of money in 5 years. At least they weren't LOSING money to the Amway pyramid scheme in those 5 years.

  5. A family member found "motivational tapes" at a rummage sale. It was a series of motivatinal tapes for Amway members. As a person not involved with Amway, my objective view is that it seemed very much like a cult. One recording stated that "if you ever want to be a Diamond you must consider what is more important, your family or your commitment to Amway" Also, "If you want to be a Diamond, you may have to make some hard decisions that may cause problems for your family, such as moving to another state". Degrading emotions were addressed to those Amway members who were not in the upper pyramid scheme. It seemed very much like a religion/cult, and not a job you leave at 6:00 pm to your real life (family, friends, etc).

    1. Anonymous - when you're inside the Amway cult the leaders want you to listen to at least 15 minutes of tapes each day. That's what keeps the flock brainwashed. Mostly those tapes the people talk about how their lives used to be and how great their lives are now thanks to Amway. They throw in a few biblical references and there you have it - cult teachings!

Yup those are the sick things that are taught to Amway ambots. Leave people behind, cut people out of your life. The old seek and destroy motto that was part of our line WWDB - World Wide Destructive Bastards. And yup I've heard Diamonds say even after they reached Diamond level that their upline counselled with them to move to another state to "build their business".

Your family member needs to burn those tapes!

And its really funny. When I first started writing this blog I had this emotionally disturbed Amway supporter who used to show up here. If we said Amway tapes instead of CD's he'd about shit his diapers demanding to know where we got hold of tapes when they haven't been sold for about 10 years and we must be listening to old stuff thats no longer part of the teaching. Ha!

  6. Makes great reading as i am one very sceptical husband whos wife has met a fellow mum out walking who has promised her the life of riches by joining this Amway shopping quest,

from the outset of listening to the preaching of what you want in life and how this can be achieved by getting your family friends etc to invest in this, then you are in a team!!sense of belonging and meetings where all the rich amway figures attend looking healthy and telling you to invest in there seminars and conferences etc...

thanks for your blog and its great knowing that im not alone in fearing this monster

    1. Anonymous Husband - I hope you can convince your wife not to get involved in this scam. Yes you have summer up Amway in very few sentences. They suck in prospects with the idea that they'll be rich and all their dreams will come true and they can retire early and never work for the man again.

Amway is a cancer that has affected many lives for the worse.

      Delete
    2. I hope you can get her to look more deeply into the scam before she is in too deep, Anonymous Husband. You hit the nail on the head with their tactics. The story I see over and over again are people talking about how they were approached by prospecting Ambots first with the build up of "what are your dreams?", "how would you like to be rich and retired in 2 - 5 years?", "jobs are for losers working for someone else where you die broke and alone by age 65" etc etc. The game is to get the person thinking they hate their current life/job and then get them excited about an amazing foolproof escape plan to get rich and have all the things they ever dreamed about before the Ambot even tells them what they would be doing and the name of the company they'd be doing it for. All a part of the brainwashing, getting the mind to let down its guard because it wants so much to believe it can have all the things its ever desired.

It's all done in steps. In the beginning it's made to sound so easy. "Just buy the things you normally would anyway and then get friends and family to do the same". Minimal effort and "low start up fee". Then, of course, once they have hooked the fish, they start adding things in. Meetings (that cost money), "tools for success" (that cost money), pressure to increase monthly PV (that adds money as the "bonus check" is only a fraction of what is spent on grossly over-priced products). And as the costs mount, they are told their lack of success is their own fault. "You aren't buying enough tools. You aren't going to enough meetings. You aren't putting in enough hours." And the more meetings they go to, the more CD's and books they consume, the deeper the brainwashing sinks in. Reality is turned inside out.

And this is when it will get very scary for a spouse. That wonderful, loving, amazing person they love so dearly will start to change. Their personality becomes drone-like. All they talk about is Amway-related news. Old friends who don't "get on board" are tossed aside for not supporting their business. Everything starts to be "us" (Amway) versus "them" (everyone not in Amway). Like a religious cultist, they will spout Amway doctrine constantly, which includes apples to oranges comparisons and gobbledygook doublespeak. Regardless of other people being happy and doing fine financially, they will sneer at everyone not in Amway as being "broke losers". Trying to show them the truth and the reality of their own losing finances only makes them surly and angry as it is "negative dream-stealing". Their upline will try to drive a wedge between the two of you as you are a threat to their cash cow.

I truly hope you can reach her before she gets "plugged in" to the brainwashing system. Amway has destroyed far too many relationships as it is. Good luck to you.

    5. Well if your idea of good humans are thieves, liars, scammers and evil vicious motherfuckers who destroy people's lives all under the name of the Great Amway God, then you're entitled to your opinion. Amway assholes who bring financial and emotional distress to other peoples lives are sure as hell not what I'd call good people. And the Amway cult - like every other cult out there - twists religion as part of brainwashing their followers. If you're happy with that type of religion then that's fine but you don't need to spread the Amway gospel here.

  10. My wife and I(Indian Citizens) were at Cross Gates Mall ( Albany) few weeks back and were approached by this random guy who speaks the same language (Tamil) as we do. Excuse me, I have seen you somewhere .are you from Chennai – these were his first words. He tried to befriend us and didn’t mention a word about Amway for the first week or so. He was extremely friendly in the first week and came home with his wife and a kid ( again, nothing mentioned about amway yet). H e called me up the following week and here is how the call went

Amway Guy: : There is an e commerce webinar which I am going to present tomorrow at ramada inn. I can’t promise you anything ( Oh really? ) but you and your wife can attend.

We had a suspicion this guy could be from Amway but still we decided to go and attend it.

Oh my God..what a horrible experience.

Everyone dressed in suits and some random guy started talking about third grade countries and pretty much never got to the point. He just made the whole presentation look so bad and apparently he drives the luxury cars ( my reaction was So what??). He repeatedly kept bringing down India and other African Countries). My blood was literally boiling and couldn’t stand it hearing from someone who is also from India

This Amway guy after the conference went like this :

How do you feel? we will come tomorrow to show all the products, was extremely pushy and had no shame about lying ( e commerce seminar..Oh yea??). He has been repeatedly calling since then and I have been repeatedly ignoring his calls.

    What a Moron

    1. Ajay - thank you for stopping by with your experiences! I could have been at that same meeting! That's exactly how it goes except the part about insulting people from other countries. Our upline kept the insults local! I remember reading an article written by an Indian woman a few years ago and she said much the same as you did. Approached by an Indian couple when they were out somewhere who complimented them on their beautiful child and it was all a ploy to get them to an Amway meeting and recruit them into the cult.

Aw come on! They're worse than morons!

If you are earning a full time income with Amway then that puts you in the fraction of less than 1% of IBO's who are making money. After one year? And you need info on the Amway cult because you're not happy to be such a high Amway income earner?

No way. You're just another lying Ambot.

    2. Anna is right. The bullshit meter is going off the scale here. The only thing Anonymous left out is that she is doing it all from one of the beaches of the world.

Even if Anonymous has managed to badger family and friends into buying the overpriced crap, that is usually a temporary situation done to initially get the Ambot of their backs, or out of pity or the desire not to hurt the Ambot's feelings. But eventually it gets tiring (and expensive) to keep on buying overpriced stuff when less expensive/better quality products are available at Costco or Sam's Club.

Of course Anonymous doesn't go into details. Selling just the products? Going to meetings? Recruiting? If so, how big of a downline? Usually mathematically, they have to have a pretty large downline to get to any kind of break even level, let alone paying the bills. Also, any credit card debt? Garage filled with products collecting dust to make the meager bonuses? Anonymous left a lot out. As they ALL do, of course.

    1. Anonymous - they can be very convincing. You have to be a good liar and bullshitter and no conscience about scamming others if you want to be successful in Amway. They don't mention Amway until they hook you in and maybe you don't even know until after you've signed up. Amway has a bad reputation as a pyramid scheme or cult so they want to keep it secret as long as they can. Most cults are the same way. By the time you realize it it's too late you've been in awhile.

That doesnt mean that there are not terrible people that try and build the business. But it has nothing to do with Amway, just the poeple. (There are sqeezy people in every industry by the way)

    4. Hi Anonymous - sorry to hear about your family. I'm glad you're finding the blog helpful. Everyone has pretty mich the same horror story. The amount of devastation Amway causes is different for every person.

In most cases you just have to let it run it's course. After a few months of losing money and figuring out the new Amway friends are really creep most people quit. Ask your family for a copy of the Amway business plan that they are supposed to show all prospects. Somewhere will be a bunch of numbers of possible compensation. Doesn't it look good on paper? Look for the small print. Amway says that some of that earnings is really money saved by purchasing their overpriced products for wholesale instead of retail. Also it shows the percentage of salespeople who earn that money. It'll be something like .00367%. You point out to yor relatives that only a fraction of 1% in Amway make money. That's over 99% failure rate. Right there in the small print on Amway literature. Ask the, if they can find a business opportunity with better odds than 99% failure rate and see how that goes. Good luck to you!

Go to the library with her and check out books with legitimate business opportunities that have a better success rate than a fraction of 1%. Good luck to you!

  19. I have been in the Amway business for 2 years now and guess what... My life has changed amazingly in everyway.. :)
I have better Health, better relationships, better finances.. My family & I have moved to the beach & we enjoy an incredible lifestyle that we certainly wouldn't of had if we never met the people we had through this business..
I know a lot of people have had bad experiences & that's unfortunate, however it is the person that represented the company that created that experience... Not the company directly..
Yes, Amway has been involved in many law suits.. That's what happens when your business operates in 87 countries around the world with over 12 billion dollar turnover.... What about the 9.5million children Amway has helped????? What about the fact that Amway invented GREEN, what about the fact that all their products are 100% friendly...???
Every seminar I have been too is so inspirational & it makes you feel great & it's motivating....
How is this a bad thing????
All the newspapers, radio & TV. Is that how you get motivated about life?? Is it? Is that where u get encouraged to chase your dreams??? Do u even know what a dream is??? If you know what they are do u even believe that they are possible???
Do u know that there are 1000s n 1000s of companies just like AMWAY???
But these guys are the BEST!!! The BIGGEST!!!
U either won't publish this or you will reply some garbage... U know what.. Haha, tomorrow you will buy something that will make someone else WEALTHY & it will build their DREAMS...
Tomorrow I will buy something, I will continue to build my DREAMS & I will get them... How about this for a dream!!! At the moment 2/3 of the world don't have clean drinking water!! My dream is 100% have clean drinking water... GO ON, tell me I can't do it!! Go on tell me I'm a loser!! Make yourself feel better & put someone down tell them they can't do it!!!!
U went through a lot of time to post this on the net!!! Hey??? Obviously something bothers you, stirs you up about this business!!! U figure if u stop at least one other person from achieving great things with AMWAY you will feel better about yourself...
U all write this garbage on here & you feel better about yourselves.. U are embarrassing!!!!
    9.5million Children helped. Your pathetic.
For everyone else. Check this company out properly. It's AMAZING!!!
Oh n PS: U want to put everything you say on here in writing & send it to AMWAY with your signature!!! They don't mind a law suit!!! They've put people like u in jail.. Your a disgrace to society.

    2. anti amway - just ignore that anonymous asshole. If someone was actually making money in Amway and living the good life they'd be using their real name as proof and showing us copies of their financial statements. Just another lying Amway asshole.

As for your daughter, its the job of the assholes in the Amway upline to break up their marriage so I think they can do it without your help.

    3. Umm asking to see someone's financial information is extremely inappropriate. And making it your lifes goal to destroy a marrage and endorsing that idea is just plain horrible. I mean Amway does play on emotions by getting people excited by having them see their dreams. But your way over exaggerating how bad they are and your more a radical conspirasist than Amway is a cult.

    4. Tyler anyone selling someone a business opportunity absolutely has to open up their books as proof of the business income. Unless of course they're doing something illegal or lying about their income then I could see why they wouldn't want to do that.

No its not my life's goal to destroy any marriages. Thats the job of the fucking Amway assholes!

    5. seriously.... That Amway lover is way creepy. Did you see all that exessive punctuation? Well this definatly sounds like a cult and that person sounded extremly pushy, i didn't like that and felt very uncomfortable reading that.

    6. If you did some research you would see that although being a member of DfE since 2008, Amway has not submitted themselves to the auditing process and therefore DfE themselves state that they cannot vouch for the credibility of the claim. Same for PETA. Very green isn't it?

    7. Anonymous - the only research ambots do is believe the lies the Amway cult leaders tell them. Its not like those liars did any research either like pick up the phone and ask questions of anyone who works in those firms. Amway ambots just spout out their lying bullshit the way they want to believe it and how they demand the downline to believe their lies too.

  20. Thank you for writing this. I've been researching Amway for about a month because I'm newly dating someone I care about a lot who is into this stuff. Before I even knew he was with Amway, I thought that the stuff he said about 'his business' was really weird and it didn't really sound like a business. Now I know him better and I see how he thinks being sleep deprived will gain him success, how he thinks the reason he hasn't been profitable in 6 years with Nutrilite is all his fault, how he's isolated from his friends and family except his 'friends' and 'family' in his 'business'.
I'm going to my first Amway meeting with him tomorrow and I'm trying to get prepared for what I'm going to hear (how I found this). I want to be careful not to be too critical of it so that I don't get his defenses up as a reaction and then lose him. I hope to gain understanding and point out how he'd be so much better off without it.
Honestly if he wants to stay with Amway I will break up with him, but I really hope I can help him leave because it seems no one can leave without support.
Do you have any advice for how to approach this first meeting?

    1. Hi Anonymous - I hope you come back to read this.

First off I'm sorry to hear about your boyfriend. The good thing is you don't have too much invested in this relationship yet so it makes it easier for you to get out if you can't convince him that Amway is a poor business opportunity with a 99% failure rate. That's Amway's figures. Look at their literature. It shows only a fraction of 1% of IBOs who make money.

Being in Amway is a very secretive cult. That's why it all sounds weird to you. They are pretend business owners. They don't take the normal steps real people take who start up legitimate businesses. They also don't tell prospects they're in Amway because it'll scare them away before they can get them in front of the closer who is probably a creepy character referred to as the Platinum.

When you meet his group you will likely be love bombed a common cult tactic. They will be overly nice in a sickening way and probably try to hug you. Think of it this way. How many business meetings or job interviews do you go to where the coworkers want to hug you? If you're lucky you'll get out of there by 11pm.

The questions you want to ask is financial statements, profit and loss statements, whatever proof these bastards have they're making money at this scam. You won't get any. That's because they're all losing money and don't want anyone to know.

The problem going on right now with your boyfriend is he is all gung ho about a tool scam function coming up called Spring Leadership. He'll be on a high for a few weeks after and then it'll wear off when he doesn't make any sales or get customers. If he doesn't quit by the summer he's probably in for the long haul and you don't want to hitch your star to someone in a cult, who puts a box of soap as more important than you, and never has any money and is probably going into debt to support his Amway habit. Good luck to you!

    2. Hey thank for your reply.
The meeting is a bit later tonight and I've pretty much given up hope already of 'showing him the light'. We spoke last night about Amway and I asked him some questions and he got pretty defensive, though I can see why. His parents have been trying for years to get him out of it and it's strained his relationship with them a lot. Also, his exwife left him over it. He'd told me before she'd left for another reason but I learned last night that the reason she specifically gave him was Amway. Also I'm the only woman outside of Amway that he's dated since her. I was totally floored. I wish this was some weird hobby like LARPing but it's his whole life, his social circle, his religion, his dream. He admits that he really wants a partner who will do Amway with him and now I see why that's so necessary. "Outsiders" just don't get it. Now it's a question of when this thing will end. It's so sad, he has so much potential. Thanks for your blog, it's really helpful.

    3. Oops I misread your first comment. You said 6 years and for some reason I thought you said months. Yeah he's a committed Ambot all right. They all get defensive when challenged and when they face the truth and the facts. Amway or not it's always a good idea to find out from the ex why they broke up. And you have your answer. And you're right. It's sad. At least you know now than putting more time in. Just tell him you feel really uncomfortable dating someone in Amway and move on. If he wasn't planning to be a lifer in this cult he'd have saved his marriage and got out years ago. Amway is all about destroying relationships. It's how the upline controls the ambots.

  21. Check the fruit on the tree. In 1979 the Federal Trade Commission has proven it to be a legal business. It is accredited by the BBB and is sponsored by Citifield in NY. It has been around for 54 years and counting. 11.1 billion in sales for 2012.

    1. Check the rotten fruit on the ground.

Did you actually read the 1979 report on Amways settlement or are you just parroting some bullshit you heard from an asshole in your Amway upline?

There is no proof that Scamway is accredited with the BBB. If you read Scamways terms and conducts for IBO's they specifically say they aren't and that it's a violation of IBO conduct if you make any false statements about Amway and so called BBB rating and is grounds for dismissal as an IBO. The BBB rating mostly has to do with the company responding to a complaint within the time limit and has nothing to do with whether or not the issue was resolved to the complainers satisfaction. If some asshole in your upline bullshitted you about Amway and the BBB do the right thing and report that bastard to head office.

Amazon opened in 1994 and last year had 61 billion in sales. That means they sell better products than Amway at better prices. So what? Either way it's good new for the owners of these companies and doesn't mean fuck all to people who don't get those proceeds.

I mean what really fucking dumb things those were for you to say here. I'm going to write a post about this so everyone knows how fucking stupid comments I got stuck with from some dumb shit Amway Ambot.

  22. Wow thank you so much for your blog. My bf and I were like a lot of other people told about the “business plan” by my bfs friend. We caught up with him to hear him out. His up line was also there. You’re so right they don’t mention Amway and they spend the whole meeting asking what our dreams are. To be 100% honest with you yes I was very interested I mean it’s all very appealing. Anyway we went to one of the meetings where some guy (an up line) went on to tell us that basically if we don’t do Amway we will end up broke and living on the streets by retirement age but if we do we will accomplish all our dreams, although he didn’t tell us exactly what to do just told us about how rich he is and how close-minded the people who don’t do it are stupid and doomed to fail in life. How very few people out of Amway have money to retire with. He also told us that his wife and himself go on holidays and send postcards to those who said it wouldn’t work. True it does work IF YOUR AT THE TOP OF THE PYRAMID!!! Oh so sorry it’s not a pyramid scheme is it nooo its network marketing completely different (yes sarcasm was used). I’m so glad that I’m a curious person and googled Amway I’m also glad I didn’t actually sign up. My boyfriend did so I was helping him out by texting people to see if they wanted to join (before I googled Amway) and drum roll please NO ONE wanted to join me. I do know why though it’s because I’m honest and actually mentioned Amway in my txt (face palm) that’s right I’m meant to be deceitful. F THAT I don’t know about them but my mum taught me to be honest. Just saying.

    1. Hi Anonymous. Thanks for stopping by with your story. I could have been right there in the room with you. The Ambot sales pitch never changes over the years. You're right it does sound appealing and it looks good on paper but finding even one person to sign up is very hard as you already found out by asking people you know. Let alone finding 100 people to sign up and stay in Amway so you can start making money is impossible for honest people and not much easier for people who are good liars.

I'm going to copy your comments into an upcoming post seeing as how this is an older post a lot of my readers will miss this.

  24. U know u deleted something I posted a few months back. Seems like u have something to hide from. The only reason you posted the person up there from Amway is cause they challenged you and you guys have to much pride to get over yourselves. I mean if you spent the same amount of energy doing something productive as you spend on this blog I would have no doubt you would be a successful person. But instead of working you're all too afraid of the idea of failure so instead you bash successful people so you feel better about your insecurities and failure to try. Now I know you won't publish this but I pray at least one person has made it to this word so I can tell you this. Life is not meant to be easy. It's all about proving your worth as a person and you're competing against the other 7 billion people wanting the same thing you do. So Amway may not be your run of the mill company and they may have a bad reputation, but you know what? The driven people succeed in Amway just like they do everywhere else in any company. It's the motivated who win and the complainers who grovel in poverty. It's a shame I wasted my time on the pitiful because either this post will not see the light of day or it will reach the ears of the self righteous deaf. Have a good day to whoever this reaches.

    1. Tyler - I have a person who moderates the comments on the blog for me and publishes almost all of them. If your post didn't get published perhaps there was something creepy about it or the post served no purpose than to be a troublemaker. Other reasons a comment doesn't get published is it went off into cyber hell somewhere like what happens to at least one of my comments every week. Sometimes they end up in the spam filter. Sometimes they get accidentally deleted. Figure out your own scenario. The only comment that I personally deleted a few months ago accidentally got past my moderator. Some dude maybe you left a comment about a Diamond who is having an affair and named names. People in Amway are nosy bastards and love this stuff and love to gossip, spread rumors and tell lies. I'm not all about that so if that was your comment I deleted it. This is no place to reveal people's personal lives so take it somewhere else. That doesn't mean I "have something to hide" just that I chose to respect the Diamond and his girlfriends privacy. find somewhere else to post that shit if it's so important to you to get it out there.

This blog is all about sharing my experiences of the abuse I took from the assholes in our Amway upline and being bullied into buying overpriced shitty products. The people reading it are in similar situations or used to be in this hell hole. People who love Amway are not reading this blog unless they are thinking of quitting so if that's your plan good luck to you getting your life back together. I mean you don't see me going around to blogs of people who love the great Amway God and leaving comments. Reading that stuff holds no interest to me.

      Delete
    2. Well it was more or less what I said there. I've never been about gossip and never will, it's disrespectful an serves no good to anyone. That and I don't give a flying f**ck about what people do on there own time unless it directly affects me. I'm sorry you got screwed over (or feel that way). Every company has it's assholes and with Amway being all about competition it probably has a higher then normal number of them. It's the trade you deal with when being around driven people. Now I'm a IBO or whatever they call it and I get by fine being a decent person and not shelling out money. I take the logical approach. When a friend is interested I tell them if they want to make some money, are driven enough (and are able) to use their personal time for sales, and are okay with talking to people about selling products this could be a good fit. I don't glorify anything, I just give them the need to know info. Now I'll give it to you, they are slightly crazy. I went to a conference and personally felt it was a waste of money because all I got was a bunch of self pandering diamonds (or whatever they call themselves) and a super Christian Sunday. If a friend wanted to go I'd tell them what to expect (good and bad) and let them decide. I just wanted to get a word in on here that to be in Amway you don't have to be a evil baby killing crazy self glorifying lunatic. You just have to have your wits about you to see through the bull and find the essence of what they are doing. Marketing. They are just like Walmart or Dunder Miflan paper company, they only have a different approach on how they distribute product. So evil no, misguided and misunderstood on some level yes, but they aren't the devil worshipping soul suckers you (appear) to make them out to be. They are driven people in a supply/demand economy looking to encourage people as to why their products are superior in some form than others. Sounds like any other distribution business to me. You just had a shitty boss or didn't have the ability to make it.

      Delete
    3. Slightly crazy? Frenzied rabid lunatic ambots is more like it!

Tyler - you obviously figured out enough to stay away from ambots and their outlandish meetings. It sounds like what you're doing is going it solo and selling a few products and maybe signing up other salepeople and there are others like you and yes they probably have the best chance of making a little money in Amway because they are not spending money on tools and functions. You still have to operate under a line of sponsorship and these are the people who will abuse you if they can't make money off you. If you have figured this out you probably have what it takes to be successful in a better business opportunity that isn't surrounded by a dark cloud. Go check out some books at the library and see if you can't find something better that is more profitable.

    4. Albeit there are other ways to make money I see a clear and defined path to opportunity in Amway while I see undetermined marketability in other like minded companies. I appreciate what you're doing but Amway is somewhere that I can see success down the road, it isn't all the money hungry machine people make it out to be. You can make money, you just need to keep your head about you to do it (by you I don't mean YOU but the figurative way of talking about a person in the 3rd person format).

    1. Anonymous - glad you're enjoying the entertainment. My upline is everyone's upline. Too many people have the same horror stories of the assholes in their Amway upline. We all heard and saw the exact same things. It's my guess you haven't been in too long and your upline are still love bombing you. Wait until you don't sign up any downline or get customers and then the abuse will begin. Those lasting friendships will be over as soon as you quit Amway. And yes you will quit. 95% of IBOs quit within 2 years when they get tired of losing money in a business that has over 99% failure rate. Surely you can go to the library and check out some books on legitimate businesses to get ideas of running your own business. Your own ideas, your own products or services instead of being a commissioned salesperson for someone else and living by their rules. If you want extra cash if you work 4 hours a week at McDonalds you'll be making way more money than people in Amway, wasting less time and not losing any money. And no I don't go around bashing hard working people. I go around bashing fucking assholes in Amway because they lie and abuse people and destroy relationships sick sorry bastards that they are and you want to associate with these fuckers?

    2. Hi D.Ivan. Sorry to hear about your cousin. I'm not sure if you've seen some recent posts about children of ambots. If you believe the child is being neglected due to the mothers involvement in the Amway cult, you need to report to child protective services. No child needs to go through the hell of knowing their parent loves a box of soap more than them. Most of the time you just have to let it run it's course and let the Ambot figure it out theyre not making money and are losing money. Once the savings has been drained and the credit cards maxed they are pretty much forced to quit. Most quit within months. 95% of IBOs quit inside 2 years.

  27. There's definitely some unfortunate bad press behind some of the things that some Amway IBO's do to build their businesses. It's usually the people that prospects unfortunately fall under that are the problem, rather than the Amway Corporation itself. Some people lose track of what the company represents in their drive to get rich. I fell into a bad upline situation the first time I gave it a try, the problem that time was that I was in a Quickstar program and I never saw any of the checks that were supposed to come down from my upline. I gave up on Quickstar and kept working in construction. I got back into Amway after doing a roadshow in Maui for all of the Diamonds. That was the proof that I needed that Amway can be a huge success, if you stick with it. I joined on my own, after doing the roadshow and looking at their new website. While surfing on their site I was reminded of why I became interested in Amway in the first place, I'm an environmentalist, and Amway has a lot of environmentally friendly products available. In fact, the corporation itself has always been about environmentalism and human health. They signed me up under a couple from Oahu who were making their business a success mostly through the Artistry and Nutrilite brands. They weren't pushy at all, and I'm trying to carry on with that style. I maintain my IBO agreement mostly because I get a discount for doing so. I look at the IBO portion more like a club card. I hope to get people to join in my downline and buy products regularly, but if they don't that's OK, because I like the organic and sustainable products that they have to offer, and I can get them cheaper as an IBO. If you would like to support sustainability and environmentalism by joining my non-pushy non-cult downline, then please visit the following link. http://www.pathofsolution.com/page20.html

    1. Anonymous - spoken like a good brainwashed Ambot!

Sure Amway ambots and their outrageous claims and lies are part of Amway's poor reputation. What action does Amway take on their employees who are going around being the biggest assholes around? Nothing! They did fire our sack of shit Platinum last year so maybe they are getting rid of some of the assholes in their employ.

I wrote a post about Amway's claims about being in the top. 2 environmental companies in the world. Just another lie spread by Amway assholes. Here's a big clue. Just about every company out there is doing their part not to leave a big impact on the environment. Other companies selling similar products to Amway are doing a better job at protecting the environment and sell better quality products at a better price than Amway.

Look where you are on an island. Don't you think Maui has already been over saturated by ambots who spread their lies long before you came along? There's only a limited amount of people who can be prospected before over saturation hits. What are you gonna do? Sit outside the old Lahaina luau and snipe tourists?

Maintain your IBO agreement just so you can buy products at a discount? Brainwashed! Go to Costco and buy a membership for around $50. Your $300 will go a lot further and you'll buy fresh products, real groceries. Spend a little more on your Costco membership and you'll get a check back based on a percentage of what you spend. Costco is a better deal than Scamway.

    1. Hi Anonymous. Thanks for stopping by. Yes most people figure it out eventually that Amway is a cult and they're losing money. Lucky for you you figured it out fast before they could do much damage to you financially and emotionally. The Amway meetings are to keep you busy so you don't realize how much money you're losing, to keep you separated from your friends and family, and to brainwash you. Don't bother meeting with your upline. He will say to you, you can't quit now not when success is right around the corner. You're about to go real big real soon. Your business is about to take off I can feel it. Then the insults will start. You're a loser. You're a quitter. You're going to be broke or dead by the time you're 65. I've heard it all a million times from the assholes in my Amway upline and from the ambots who stop by here and are outraged the truth about their scam is getting out there. Good for you and I hope you have a happy, Amwayless life!

Why are these losers dressing up in business suits to sit in a living room and lie about Amway? Why do Amway cult leaders put down people who have J.O.B.s? You must still be in the love bombing stage - a common cult tactic. There's just something really creepy about the way Amway losers dress, speak, smile and speak. Brainwashed Ambots!

Glad you saw through the Amway bullshit and won't be tithing the Great Amway God.

  29. I was involved in Amway from May 2012 to March 2013. A friend invited me along to a monthly seminar and while I was overwhelmed with the terrible pop music, in-time clapping, positivity overload and promises of achieving my “dreams” and “goals”. Naively, I assumed my friend invited me for my benefit so I signed up that night. I played ball for a few months (because I still had a shred of optimism), attended most of the functions (including three weekend conventions), bought stuff from the website, listened to the CDs and even hosted a house/launch party. I got put into a good team of normal people who all seemed supportive. While some of friends knew it was a scam, I ignored them. Heading towards Christmas, reality finally hit. I lost my job momentarily in November and was limping by on my now meagre savings (thanks to all the money I’d spent on Amway). I was forced to look at the most important things to survive - pay rent and buy food – rather than wasting my time with Amway. Because of this reality cheque, I started to see through the feelgood bullshit of Amway. While they sell you on reaching your “dreams” and “goals”, the harsh reality is most of the money goes to the big guns: the Diamonds, the Oblongs, the Rectangles etc. Most of those who make it already have oodles of money and saving and don’t need Amway, they’re just being greedy. Those who are students, low-income earners or who don’t have a secure income, Amway can be potentially damaging, spending money you don’t have on something you don’t need. In my time in Amway, I estimated I spent over $2,000 on various stuff and made less than $100. While I found the online shopping part convenient, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper to go down to your local supermarket and buy what you need. While I got my job back in late November, I immediately lost interest after the October conference (as I had to rebuild financially), I took until March to fully quit, mainly because my friend – who was now my “upline” – was away overseas and if I was going to quit, I wanted to do it face-to-face. In the ensuing months, I completely stopped activity: no more CDs, no more shopping, no more functions (I was always able to find a convenient excuse). When the March convention came around, I was upfront with my friend and he was fine with it. I left the convention on the Saturday afternoon and didn’t look back. It was a relief.
Looking back, Amway has had a negative effect on me emotionally. All the feelgood crap, false hope and focus on materialism made me cynical and bitter. Anytime people mention their “dreams” and “goals”, I roll my eyes dramatically. I’m nowhere near as optimistic about life as I was before I joined Amway. The worst part was, had I not been involved with Amway, my brief time out of work would have been more comfortable financially. Like most ‘get rich quick’ schemes, it relies on trickery and lots of materialistic, shallow rubbish. It’s basically saying “money is the only thing that matters.” I call shenanigans. Yes, money is great for peace of mind, but it doesn’t make you happy. If you want financial security, work hard, invest wisely and spend sensibly.

    1. Hi Anonymous. Thanks for stopping by with your story. I'm probably going to copy this into an upcoming post because this is old and a lot of readers will miss it.

Glad to hear you got out of Amway before too much damage was done. If you only lost $2000 in about a year consider yourself lucky. So many people lose much more than that and take a long time if ever to recover from this scam. Amway sets people back financially instead of giving them the life of retirement and promised riches rolling in every month. Everything you said is very true.

  30. My father got into the Amway thing when I was growing up. Funny how a lad of ten could see right through the whole scam, while my father was gobbling up all their crap as fast as they could serve it. The company used to have a globe-like trademark. I would say their real motto was , "The world: to AMWAY!"

I can't say I experienced everything you did with my uplines as some of them were well-meaning and encouraging, but there is definitely some truth to what you are saying. I still buy and use products from Amway occasionally (love XS), but once I realized how cult-like it is, I just couldn't stay. I just had an uncomfortable feeling around some of those people.

Typical of an ambots greedy pursuit of money. So are you going to the areas hardest hit by the typhoon and scamming destuitute people telling them they can make $2000/month in Amway and surely they can take 10 to 15 hours a week away from sifting through debris and burying bodies to work their Amway business and they'll be millionaires in 2 years. If your wife and her upline are such wonderful people you would have mentioned in your little tirade how much they're giving back to their fellow countrymen who've suffered this recent natural disaster instead of bragging about their riches.

And then you have the gall to tell me that my real life experiences is not true? Typical Amway asshole arrogance.

The top guys are earning their income from Britt WorldWide BWW which is cds, books, meetings, seminar (bbs), major functions and bww website subscription (webspace, bmp and bww tv). 37. Let me cut it short. My friend joined Amway few moths ago. As per him it has changed his LIFE. Here are some of the changes: no time to hang out with friends. We are seen as low lifers with a dead end job who will die poor. No buying the house anymore since he needs the money to buy the "product". No driving a decent car since he needs the money for buying "material". And whole bunch of other non sense. Oh did I mention he is buying a luxury cottage on the lake while I grind it out in a tiny cookie cutter house? Bunch of lies. Steer clear of Amway. I can go on and on but it just makes me sick to even think about it. Great blog btw. Keep exposing!!!

I'm in college and i went out with a girl for a while, then she dropped the Ambomb. so i went to a few meetings to see what's up. its just like a cult! it exploits fear and emotion of the members to get them to buy the products and to teach them how to sell them. her life is all about amway, our relationship took a backseat. i felt no need to stick around in a relationship where she is obsessed with reading or listening to whatever they tell her to because it will help her be successful. they called me selfish for saying no. "dont you want to retire your mom in 5 years?" and they have them all sold that they will be millionaires by the time they're 25

  39. In the early ninety's I was introduced to the scamster company by my boss. He kept spraying the Glister spray in his mouth in front of all the employees. Sooner or later someone asks "hey, what you got there?" He tells us "I bought it from my own company." Little did we know that was the first lie we got hit with. Here he comes again with "hey, if you want to be financially free, I'm having a meeting over at my place." Second lie. We were told to not call the company amway, but rather "the umbrella corporation" and if asked to say that we do sell some amway products. Third lie. Went to a few meetings, a seminar to meet the Diamonds and a few other money wasting events. Heck, I even went "dream building" where your upline takes you around to look at rich houses and fancy cars. Two things that broke me from the hypnotic spell of amway. 1. The seminar/conventions speakers. They sit up there and brag about all the stuff they bought, where they went hunting, all kinds of useless information. At the end of praising himself he threw up a few circles, wrote Amway in big letters, and he was done talking. I was pissed. 2. I couldn't afford their products anymore. Back then they highly suggest you spend $150 per month on amway products. The problem was....$150 didn't get you much stuff, so we had to go to Wal Mart to get the rest of the household items we needed. We eventually stopped buying the amway products completely and started paying off all the debt we created with amway. Concentrated or not concentrated, their products are just way too overpriced.

I think whether they use the glister spray, or hit themselves on the head with an amway shoe, they are trying to attract attention to what they're doing. They want people to ask them questions such as "my, what a good looking shoe you keep pounding against your head...where did you get it?" If its not one tactic its another....

All he had was me signed up, and I was 3,000 dollars in debt with amway. I met someone who was in a different MLM company was was making 10,000 a month. I went cold turkey with amway and starting working this other company. Douche found out about it and brought his immediate upline to my house. I wasnt home but they both ripped into my girlfriend. She told me later they made her cry her eyes out with all the yelling and shouting about leaving amway. I was tempted to visit them at their homes and throw a box of amway soap through their windows, but I just let it go. If I ever run into those two morons again they will be visiting the end of my fist. Losers!

  43. Someone told me once that in order to participate in pyramid scemes such as this, you must either own a certain gene or have damaged your brain somehow to be influenced by these people.

My wife and I decided to undergo a cruel Ketosis diet, which lasted about a month. I'm not sure if that changed something in her brain, but in February she suddenly divorced me for no apparent or logical reason. She just dropped the bomb on me with zero warning. No face to face talks. The bomb landed on me through Skype.

The only reason she ever told me was something in the effect of "My love for you has died and I just don't want you anymore. I saw you were exceedingly unhappy in this relationship and I see no reason continue together, not with these accomplishments".

When we met, she was knee-deep in debt, no steady job, living by her dad in a makeshift apartment made from a metal workshop office: no toilet, no running water. I lifted her from this miserable state to a practically debt-free life with a steady, moderately paying job and got her graduated to two different vocations.

She moved in with me. In few years time, we moved to her city of birth, got married, a joint mortgage, a house, two dogs and a new car. How's that for a list of accomplisments and devotion? For her, that weighed zilch pitted against divorce.

In just a few weeks time I was pushed around. I had to separate our joint bank account, give her control of the car, take possession of the dogs and start selling our house. During these weeks she became increasingly isolated: She single-handedly kicked out every person even loosely connected to me in Facebook, moved from the living room couch to the visitor room and locked access to her tablet and phone by a PIN code and was extremely protective at them. Every time her phone rang, she made a swift walk either outside or the visitor room and slammed the door shut so I wasn't able to hear any conversations. She also started visiting her "friends", while leaving behind those she knew by name. None of these other "friends" were ever mentioned by name.

In June she almost literally threw me and the dogs out because she was having a "business meeting" and according to her was "starting to build a business". No names were given. Just "friends" and "business". Little did I know I was about to witness Amway's descent and what's worse, adultery. The meeting was supposed to take four hours but it went well past it. Our security camera sent me a picture of my wife and a guy I saw arriving there first caught hugging with more than just lovebombing-kind way. It came to my knowledge that she had known this guy for several weeks. Where/How they met is unknown, but it wasn't hard to notice she was head over heels for him and this guy was her prospector, thus her upline. Then came boxes of stuff from Amway and she started attending functions. She was flat broke in just few days after payday. During her summer holiday she packed her car to the brim and moved living with him, leaving me behind. One weekend she coldly texted me that she's not going to pay any bills such as electricity, heating, etc. because "building my business big takes sacrifices and it's going to take at least a few months until I'm going to get something back". This caused my financial situation nearly collapse: All the bills had my name on them so I was forced to pay all of them in full or face penalties and consequences while she happily walked away from all financial responsibilities.

Today it has been a nearly a month since the divorce came legally to power. Because of her job, my ex-wife still loiters around here weekdays, living in a house she owns half of, using all the commodities she's not paying for and it doesn't bother her at all.

We were together for a decade and were married for four years. Now all those years are wasted.
    Thanks a bunch, Amway.

    1. So sorry to hear what happened to you. But from other horror stories I've read on this and other sites, your story is hardly isolated. Those who defend Amway bristle at suggestions of it being a cult, but the signs and symptoms are plain as day. 180 degree personality change, cutting out of their lives anyone who isn't part of the cult, lack of a moral compass other than one that points only to the cult, a complete disconnection with reality and truth (other than the "truth" others in the cult tell them).

I hope you are able at some point to break free of her completely. Then she can sink on her own as her debt builds. You deserve to find a new beginning Amway-free.

Cults destroy lives and relationships. And Amway IS a cult.

    2. Hi Anonymous. You're probably right that there is something in a person's biological programming either genetically or introduced into the system that makes them more susceptible to these pyramid schemes.

Sorry to hear about your marriage. The more surprising thing here is the woman is the Amway ambot, usually its the man.

Everything you said is the Amway pattern. The sneaking around. The private meetings. The strange new "friends". Single-minded focus on "the business". Blowing off bills and using that money to buy more Amway shit.

I'm surprised that she still half owns the house. Usually in a divorce the lawyers or the judge decides what happens to the house. If it doesn't get sold usually one side buys out the other.

If she stays in Amway long enough she'll hit rock bottom again. People in Amway are financially irresponsible like that or brainwashed to be.

Thanks for sharing your story. We're going to bring it up on an upcoming post because this one is kind of old many readers are going to miss it. Hope things get better for you.

Oh yeah. On your behalf I'll send out a big old FUCK YOU to Amway!

    3. Hi Anna and Anonymous and thanks for your kind and understanding replies on this matter. In the light of the fact that Amway has been around for over half a century, I can easily imagine my story's not an isolated incident, probably not even the worst.

So far I have somehow managed to avoid people defending Amway. My ex-father-in-law's girlfriend knew Amway by name, wasn't affiliated with it, but still had only positive things to say about their products and reminisced personally knowing someone who was doing well in that business, too. Once she told me that Amway was a reputable company to deal with and (to her knowledge) had no cult-like behavior, my interest in engaging in any decent conversation about Amway with her went out the window.

As far as I can remember, she never tried to persuade me or anyone else from my side to join Amway but she did try to persuade her closest and dearest friends into it. I have no further information what were their answer to this calling, but I can assume they realised what was going on and refused (at least for them and their families' sake I sincerely hope so).

Luckily for me I am breaking away from her already and have seen the telltale signs of her heading for a financial crash. By sheer luck I found a rental apartment from the same city I work in (at present, I have to travel a combined 80 miles each day and with gas prices in my country of residence as they are, we're talking hundreds of dollars per month). By moving there, I can slash my car usage and gas bill to a minimum because public transportation is at my disposal. I can probably start moving very soon but once I've signed the rental agreement, it almost immediately means I have to start living there from that point on.

Breaking away from her forces me to take a huge financial risk. As the apartment rent and the downpayment of the house combined will eat 2/3 of my disposable income, it is going to put a huge stress to my financial situation until the house is sold.

The plan sounds crazy at best but what choice do I really have? My options here are extremely limited. Either I:
      1. force myself living in that loveless house with the Ambot who divorced me, still constantly observing for a single inconsistency, flaw or error in my ways and verbally assaults me for it while taking full and shameless advantage of all things for free that she can, or I
      2. will move out, taking the financial risk as it is, and take every single essential thing that can be moved, with me, to the new address.

It is probably quite needless to say that as my physical and mental health are at risk here, the latter option seems to be the only viable one and the risks involved are well worth taking.

And Anna... There's more to this story than what I could fit in 4096 characters. I can give you the full version of this story should you want it.

      Delete
    4. To reply on Anna's comment:
I for one never had never even heard of Amway before the divorce process began. I never even knew an ambot can be gender-related and is usually male although come to think of it, men usually have jobs that pay somewhat more so more money for Amway-related shit.

As I googled around, I ran accross an old but still very accurate Amway-related analysis about how it adopts clear cult like behavior and it was like someone had pictured my life so far. The scariest thing was that this analysis clearly pointed out what is happening right now and what's worse, what was going to happen and they all came reality in record time.

You said you were surprised that she half-owned the house. In the country where I live, a divorce without a prenuptial agreement means the house goes automatically to 50:50 ownership. Since we have owned this house for three years, nothing much has been paid back so simply buying the other out was not really the first choice. To add in the fact that she's an Ambot on a verge of a financial collapse and in desperate need of money, buying her out would have been just like winning a lottery. No, out of the question. Looking this the other way round, she couldn't buy me out because she had already moved living with her upline, thus having no use for it and the other fact that she knows nothing about upkeeping a house. Furthermore, both have insufficient income to make ends meet on their own in case of 100% ownership and because the maximum mortgage downpayment time is 25 years, it can't be expanded. In other words, this is a deadlock situation and selling is the only option. Luckily enough, she gave me a Power of Attorney, so with that I can do all the decisions concerning selling of the house on her behalf.

By the looks of things happened so far, my educated guess is that she'll hit rock bottom very soon. Once it happens, nobody's going to help her and she's not going to have any place to go if the house gets sold in the meantime.
Remember that makeshift place at her father's? She's going there, right?
Nope. During the first days of the divorce process she received a text message from her rather angry father with a very simple request: "Snap out of it and stop screwing around". The result: She disowned him immediately and accused me of "gossiping private matters to outsiders".

So with bridges reduced to a pile of rubble only one bridge still remain. It's badly damaged, but it's still there and that bridge leads to me. Little does she know that that bridge will be blasted to Hell by me once everything has been moved to my new home.

    5. Hi Anonymous. That's odd your ex didn't try to get you to go to Amway meetings and hang out with her new friends. That's usually the first thing they do after signing up. Suck in the significant other. And if they don't go along with the scam, the assholes in the Amway upline put the screws on to destroy the relationship.

Yeah I guess you're doing the only thing you can. Divorce usually means financial mess for at least one if not both sides. And throw Amway into the divorce, just be lucky you're not going into foreclosure or bankruptcy. Those are common tales when it comes to Amway killing a marriage.

When I said I was surprise she still half owned the house I meant following the divorce that she still half owned it. Not surprise if still married, but once divorced you have to assume that most divorced couples do not want to co-own anything, much less live together in the same house! But at least you have full power of decision regarding the sale of the house. She could tie you up forever if she needs a place to live and doesn't want it to sell, know what I mean?

It doesn't matter how old a story is about Amway, the story never changes: Amway brings financial and emotional distress to the lives it poisons. They say the same stuff at Amway meetings they said 20, 30 years ago. The brainwashing is the same.

Scroll up the right hand side of this page to where you see more information about Amway. There are 2 links that say Dateline's exposure of Amway. This is Youtube. You will see the cult like behavior and the lies told at Amway meetings. Also the link to the free ebook Merchants of Deception. You might find it helpful to read and understand what a helpless position being in Amway is.

Once Amway is out of people's lives they're able to get back on track financially so you will get through this. And come out ahead of your ex. She's got her Amway "business" and an Ambot lover. She's got nothing. And good riddance to her and her scam as far as you're concerned. Good luck to you. Once Amway is kicked to the curb life can only get better!

      Delete
    6. Hi Anna.
On that part you are absolutely right: It's weird she never suckered me into Amway business, but I think I know why. I was the one calling shots when it came to big investments, had all the financial responsibility and bill-paying in my hands and although my wife had unlimited access to our joint bank account, she rarely used any money from there on her own, but kept on complaining about my spending habits, despite I repeatedly told her that the money is free to be used as one sees fit once all the bills were paid.

From that point of view it would be feasible to assume that she wasn't "financially independent", which probably played a role in this whole Amway-shit and our divorce. I was equal to outsider with a negative influence.

From the looks of it, I should consider myself lucky for being kicked out from this relationship early, but considering what was the price, calling myself lucky just sounds plain wrong. In my country we have a tax percentage cut available for first-time buyers. Once the house is sold this tax advantage will become null and void, which means my disposable income will shrink about 12-15%, which translates to hundreds of dollars. At least I can seek some form of happiness in the fact that the impact will also be felt on her side as well, although not as roughly, but at least she will have less money to buy Amway shit.

About half owning the house... I think I need to clarify the situation a bit here: Our hands are tied. I can't buy her out and she can't buy me out. Selling a house is possible but is difficult in the current economic situation and foreclosure is not an option. All I know is that the house will be sold in some point in time. She has moved a car full of her belongings to her new Ambot boyfriend, but he lives around 180 or so miles away. She works in the same city as I am, but since we're legally divorced, we use separate cars to travel there (yep, I can hear environmentalists go berserk for that), and here's another twist: Even that she could, she still hasn't transfered the ownership of the car to herself so its debt, insurances, all that jazz, are still under my name, hence making it "my car".

So, because of the distance between her new home and current workplace, it's not financially wise travelling from her Ambot boyfriend to work, so she's kinda forced living here weekdays and goes back to him on Friday with whatever she managed to pull out and pack in during those four days here. She's willing to sell the house but at the same time she's so disconnected from reality that she thinks she's going to make a huge profit. The reality is very different: We're lucky if we manage to sell it for zero profit (and at present, it doesn't look even that good).

To make matters worse (for her directly and to me indirectly), she has given an indirect warning about quitting her current job to pursue another one near her new place of residence. Good for her if she succeeds in that (at least I don't have to see her ever again), but for the looks of it she hasn't found one yet as she hasn't moved out. Looks like I'm going to move out before her and when it happens, she's going to have a very bad time living in a house with most of the electricity disconnected, not to mention the internet. So much for having things for free.

    7. Whoa that's quite a pickle you got there bud. I says sell the damn place! Can you rent it out in the meantime or put it on AirBnB?

Any chance you may want to reconcile in the future when she snaps outta of it? Or this is it for you?

Can we ask What country are you talking about? It's really important to read that scAmway is about the same shenanigans all over the world - please keep us posted.

Work hard before you buy the next home, save at least 20% of it's value, live on nothing but rice and beans, pour every dollar into the house and pay off the mortgage the fastest you can, don't keep that thing mortgage for 25 years - it's not a pet. Whatever happens may life favor you with it's best possible smile.

      Delete
    8. Hi Anonymous - yeah if you don't have a house for very long and sell it there's no chance to build up equity and you still have various taxes and lawyer's fees, etc that come out of any profit. You'll be lucky to break even and so many people are coming out upside down when they sell their house.

I say if the car is in your name and you're not married anymore its your car you can do whatever you want with it. Take your battery out of your car. That'll make it tough for anyone to drive it. You don't want her to let her ambot boyfriend drive around in your car and get in an accident that you'll be responsible for.

Yeah I'd say consider yourself lucky you got out before Amway could do more damage to you financially. You'll bounce back once you're no longer supporting her Amway habit they'll be more disposable income. And you can still meet the woman of your dreams who is not in a cult and will treat you better than anyone in Amway could ever treat you!

Yesterday night, I thought it was going to be a talk on how to start up a 'legit' business and the lessons learned from being a manager and creating a business legitly. The 'orientation guy' happened to be speaker for this 'event'.

To my dismay, I wasted literally a 30 minute drive just to attend one creepy 1 hour long cult meeting. I am glad to have been brought up well by my parents, being taught that hard work will eventually pay off in the end. Anyways, this 'speaker' who happens to work for the company I just got recently hired into had the audacity to boast about his Masters/PHD and even went as far as saying I knew my 'dorm-mates' would prevent me from success as "they were my dorm-mates after all...they wouldn't be rooming with me if they were 'already' successful".

As others have stated as well as this blog post, it was pretty much how the 'business' system works and pretty much that you need to not 'listen to others' and just 'feed off the pour souls and suckers' to join your 'team'. I remember one quote especially that was the nail in the coffin, "It was awesome to finally own a 'business' where I could work from home, spend time with my kids, and make 'OTHER PEOPLE' do the work for me". As soon as I heard that, I knew that this not only one f***ed up cult, but a cut-throat good-for-nothing pyramid scheme scam. (Thank god I've watched a lot of episodes of AMERICAN GREED - great show btw).

In conclusion, stay the f*** away from Amway or ANYTHING that give empty 'promises' of owning your 'business' and being able to live the 'dream' and 'lifestyle' you've always wanted.

Here are my general rules that most should try to follow instead:

    1. There is no free lunch
    2. If it sounds too good to be true...chances are, it is indeed too good to be true and a lie
    3. Work hard and network with co-workers and especially keep in touch with your friends (extra money/being wealthy - means of buying short-lived comfort and taking economic/business chances and endeavors)
    4. If you fail, just take the time to learn from it and not focus too much on the failure/result. The more you do this, the faster you will learn things.
    5. MOST IMPORTANTLY.....be yourself. People will respect you if present yourself as truly who you are.

    1. Hi YestGotInvited. Looks like your parents taught you some good things, mainly don't get caught up in Amway or any other scam. Your general rules are good.

The Ambots say they'll get "other people" to work for them. Not sure what that means. Probably that they get Ambot free labor and suck the poor bastards into doing work around their house for free for the "privilege" of spending time with the cult leader.

No thanks. Got plenty of work to do around my house. Don't you see you Amway assholes offering to do any of it for me. So right back at you.

You're lucky the cult meeting you attended was only an hour. Scamway meetings tend to run 3 hours then they take a small break so the infidels can leave and then they launch into another meeting night owl or nuts & bolts. When the ambots are tired its easier to brainwash them.

Oh yeah around here no reason to write f***. We say it like it is. This is the place to show up and curse out the assholes in your Amway upline!

  46. Thank you so much for sharing this great blog, I went to a "seminar" just yesterday night. And the whole process just seemed weird they made very weird chants, like a cult...So that definitely made me feel uncomfortable and it was obvious to me that it was a SCAM, no need to look further. Your post just confirmed my intuition. Thanks for sharing again.

    1. Hi Anonymous. Glad you're enjoying the blog! Yeah you made the right decision cause you figured out real fast that Amway is a cult. The Cult of Greed! Everything about Scamway meetings made me uncomfortable. The love bombing, the lies, the chanting, the cult leader worship. Amway is really fucking creepy.

    1. Hi there Unknown. Yes people in Amway prey on needy people or people in weak moments. With promises of how everyone is going to be rich. And don't feel bad. Lots of people have gotten scammed by Amway. At least you're getting out before too much brainwashing has screwed you up.

    1. Hi Fresh. I'm glad we're able to help stop you from making a huge financial and emotional mistake.

We have tons of Amway Ambots showing up here screeching at us to do our research. Now if they'd taken their own advice they'd never have signed up to Scamway! LOL!

Be prepared for Bryant to keep bugging you to sign up to the Amway cult. When these Ambots think they have a live one, they're unrelentless. Remember that Ambots are prudes. Cursing him out should do the trick and stop further contact. If he keeps coming back, tell him you're putting your money into producing and starring in gay porno flicks and ask if he wants to invest. That'll get rid of the Ambot! LOL!

  51. I was approached at the market by one of these people. He had commented on a shirt I was wearing, and we got to talking about video games. He abruptly gave me his phone number to discuss "a business" he and his friends were trying to start because "I seemed like someone that would be a fit."

I was excited, admittedly. I thought that I had randomly met someone in the gaming industry that had seed money or something. Alas...

I call, and he invited me to a Starbucks. He brought out all these materials, and I immediately saw that this wasn't what it seemed. I asked where his office was, and he evaded the question, saying they were still working on that. Cutting him off, I said he told me he had a business with friends, so do they work out of a garage for now or what? Again, he evaded, saying that they just work remotely for now.

Ok...so I let him pitch. He asks if I want to be a winner, make money etc etc...obvious salesmen "yes" questions. So then I ask him how on earth I'm supposed to *make money* and *be my own boss* by just buying their products and telling other people to buy their products. His answer? "You wouldn't own a Starbucks and buy from Coffee Bean, right?"

What?? That's not even close to a logical answer! This guy was young, charismatic, and obviously didn't care about anyone but himself. I told him I wasn't interested and stood up to leave. He said, "ok well you have my number, but I can't guarantee I'll have a position for you if you change your mind."

What position? Was this kid delusional? He even sent me a text about a week later, saying I should "meet with some of his associates so I could get a better understanding." Too late, bub. I did my research, and I know what that means.

    1. Hi Anonymous. Thanks for stopping by with your story. Yes you got the standard Amway pitch proving that nothing has changed in years. Probably decades! The lines and lies those Amway losers use are still in play.

It doesn't matter what your career or hobby is. An Amway Ambot will show over the top interest and flattery in it trying to suck up to you and say they want to get into that field and maybe you can help them.

He probably also said he can tell you're a "sharp" guy and he's looking for a few sharp guys to get in on his business opportunity.

And yes Ambots always want to meet for coffee. He probably said something to you that he knows an entrepreneur who has some really good ideas and he can't promise anything but he'll see if he can set up a time for you to meet this "sharp businessman".

And yeah you asked good questions. And not wanting to discount a business that's just getting going that's running out of a garage. Apple and Ben & Jerry's started out that way.

Amway Ambots are always evasive so they can trick you into their scam.

And I see they're still using the old "winner" routine. That's how Amway cult leaders pump up their followers. They're all "winners" just cause the ambots showed up at the cult meeting. Yesterday's post touched on that whole Amway losers and winners thing.

Amway Ambots throw out a bunch of bullshit propaganda to try to confuse you. All part of their trickery but at least you stepped back and said what the fuck is this and saw right through their scam. They're a bunch of fast talkers but all scammers have to do that.

Amway Ambots always have a sense of urgency. Now is the time to get in. If you wait 6 months thinking about you'll have missed the boat. The real urgency to get in NOW is before you can hit the Internet and do a search and see Amway's a scam. You were probably told not to do any online research and maybe even told specifically to stay away from Married To An Ambot. Others have left comments here saying they were warned not to look and that's what got their interest to check it out.

Amway losers don't want prospects to see the truth about what really happens. They want to brainwash you with lies.

Yeah you'll get bugged with text messages and maybe phone calls for awhile from those Amway losers. Here's what you do. Ambots are prudes. The next time you get a text from one of those losers you text back that you're starting a business producing and starring in gay porno flicks and ask if they'd like to invest in your new venture. That'll get rid of them!

Stay away from Amway. It'll only bring you financial and emotional distress.

  52. This guy's account of being prospected at Starbucks is absolutely typical of how Amway operates. Propagandistic schmoozing, followed by a dire warning that he "might not have a position for you later on" -- it's as predictable as the sunrise.

My own view is that you should NEVER get involved in conversation with any stranger who accosts you in public. Anyone who comes up to you to start talking is either a con-man, a criminal, or some nut-job. Just walk away from them immediately.

    1. Anonymous- thanks to Amway I am automatically suspicious of strangers who strike up a seemingly innocent conversation. I was in the grocery store and a man comes up and tells me I shouldn’t buy this product I’d just put in the buggy. I thought oh fuck this guy is an Amway Ambot and he wants to sell me a similar product. But no. He just wanted to share his recipe for making it from scratch that’s cheaper. Ambots aren’t all about saving money. Whew! Had me worried there for a minute.

    1. Hi Anonymous. You should come back and tell us how it went. Tell us the lines you heard. And I can tell you one of the lines. Your "sponsor" told you he knows a really successful entrepreneur who has some really good ideas and he's really busy but he'll make some time to meet you for coffee. And who bought the coffee by the way?

  54. Deceitful cheats: That fits Amwaybot description just right. One of my father's colleague got in to it and is one of successful Platinums or whatever. But he leeched on us in more than one way. He got my father to join and buy the first kit and few more. Got him in to some meetings though after a year or two. But rest of our family called it a ponzi scheme and my father left it, rather unwillingly but he did it. He told his friend he was not going to get divorce for Amway.

Still that person kept trying to make my father buy more things. Most shameless thing he did was a whole year after my father quit. They met in another city. That ambot kept my father from getting in to a cab timely insisting he would drop him himself. Thus he got him to miss his train. - just to get him in to amway meeting. Also at some point, he told my father he had forgotten his ATM card and needed money urgently to pay his daughter's fee Rs 50,000+ and that he would return it when they return to our home town. He never paid back. Instead when asked multiple times he gave my father an insurance policy from Amway( for lesser amount too). He told him he would pay for it and thus return his money in that form in three installments. But nope next year he told my father to pay ... It's downright swindling at that point. Of course after that my father who still thought he could have made it, if his family had supported him, stopped saying that. Since this whole

Apart from the amway situation causing rift in the the family, I have learned an ambot is a terrible friend. Some other friends who got the bug were insufferable and we lost most of them permanently but as far as I hear none of them made it big. Some of them got in to other companies running the business at similar model thinking that might suit them better. A few times I was forced to buy one of the products just to get rid of them. For they come directly to home and kept showing one thing after another and wouldn't leave. Never found one item which I really liked and always overpriced.

So far, only one of the people I know is successful at it and he was the one who swindled us maximum.

My take- you must be shameless selfish jerk, ready to exploit and screw over every person you know whether close family or a passing acquaintance. Pay no heed to what they think of you or if they do not wish to see you ever again after, to be successful at it. i.e. besides joining before everyone you know or may get to know.

    1. Hi Anonymous. Thanks so much for sharing your story! I might pull it out for a future post down the road because this post is old others might not see it.

Takeaway? People in Amway are broke losers and liars. They'll lie and say they're buying dinner or paying for the cab or whatever but when it comes time to pay? Not happening. Ambots will borrow money or stuff and not pay it back or return what they've borrowed. Amway Ambots are thieves!

Your take is absolutely correct. The only chance a person has of making money in Amway is by screwing over others.

Comments are moderated but we publish just about everything. Even brainwashed ambots who show up here to accuse us of not trying hard enough and that we are lazy, quitters, negative, unchristian dreamstealers. Like we haven’t heard that Amspeak abuse from the assholes in our upline!

If your comment didn’t get published it could be one of these reasons:
1. Is it the weekend? We don’t moderate comments on weekends. Maybe not every day during the week either. Patience.
2. Racist/bigoted comments? Take that shit somewhere else.
3. Naming names? Public figures like politicians and actors and people known in Amway are probably OK – the owners, Diamonds with CDs or who speak at functions, people in Amway’s publicity department who write press releases and blogs. Its humiliating for people to admit their association with Amway so respect their privacy if they’re not out there telling everyone about the love of their life.
4. Gossip that serves no purpose. There are other places to dish about what Diamonds are having affairs or guessing why they’re getting divorced. If you absolutely must share that here – don’t name names. I get too many nosy ambots searching for this. Lets not help them find this shit.
5. Posting something creepy anonymously and we can’t track your location because you’re on a mobile device or using hide my ass or some other proxy. I attracted an obsessed fan and one of my blog administrators attracted a cyberstalker. Lets keep it safe for everyone. Anonymous is OK. Creepy anonymous and hiding – go fuck yourselves!
6. Posting something that serves no purpose other than to cause fighting.
7. Posting bullshit Amway propaganda. We might publish that comment to make fun of you. Otherwise take your agenda somewhere else. Not interested.
8. Notice how this blog is written in English? That's our language so keep your comments in English too. If you leave a comment written in another language then we either have to use Google translate to put it into English so everyone can understand what you wrote or we can hit the Delete button. Guess which one is easier for us to do?
9. We suspect you're a troublemaking Amway asshole.
