Amway Products are a Good Reason Not to Get Involved with Amway

There were many reasons I didn’t want to get involved with Amway. Some of the reasons:

1. We’d already done it before and lost money and I knew to expect the same
2. Losing more money
3. Wasting our time
4. Attending boring, lengthy meetings where the same thing was said over and over and over and over and over and over........
5. Using shitty, nasty, useless, overpriced, substandard Amway products

Of course there were other reasons, namely our sponsor is an arrogant prick and our Platinum is a pompous sack of shit. I don’t like either of them and don't want to spend any time around them. If they’re in Amway that’s the best reason not to be in Amway.

But rather than cursing out my upline I’ll go back to the shitty Amway products.

I do not use vitamins. People who eat healthy low fat meals and eat lots of fruits and vegetables or otherwise eat balanced meals generally do not need supplements. Sure enough the upline told us all these vitamins we needed to take just like the last time we were in Amway. The reason ambots are brainwashed into buying all those overpriced vitamins is because it gives them the best PV bang for your buck. That’s what the cult leaders at Amway meetings preached to us. So our cupboard ended up jam packed with just about every vitamin Ambot could think to buy.

I never felt any difference from Amway Nutrilite vitamins other than a lighter bank account. I’ve felt no difference whenever I take vitamins from other suppliers either. Maybe I’m not old enough yet where taking vitamin supplements is going to benefit me. Amway IBO’s are running around from one meeting to another and don’t get home until early in the morning that they don't have time to stop and cook decent meals. They go through the drive thru at fast food joints and cram in the burgers and fries while driving to an Amway meeting or perhaps they don’t eat at all - I mean who can afford to go out and buy groceries when they have to use all their disposable income towards buying Amway products - so they need to use vitamin supplements to balance their poor nutrition.

I hated Amway dish soap Dish Drops. It comes in a small bottle with a pump dispenser. The thing I hate most about Dish Drops is the bubbles don't last. I’m still washing dishes and I have no soap bubbles. Its not like I have a ton of dishes I wash in the sink. I have a dishwasher but I also wash by hand dishwasher rejects or items that I don’t normally put in the dishwasher. Dish Drops come in refill sizes and like the good little Ambot my husband was he stocked up on Dish Drops and we used it long after our Amway affiliation has ended. I hate being wasteful and throwing things away. I was really happy when I could switch back to better quality dish soap at a fraction of Amway’s price.

Amway also sells dishwasher detergent, little white pucks. I hated them too. After every load I’d pull dishes or plates out that I’d call “dishwasher rejects” and then I'd have to wash them by hand with the shitty Dish Drops whose bubbles didn’t last. Nasty! If my Ambot husband washed the dishes maybe the shitty Amway products wouldn't have bothered me so much. But no like the typical ambot husband he bought shitty Amway cleaning products and expected that I would just love using them. Nopers. I prefer to use cleaning products that actually work.

I finally had enough of the shitty Amway dishwasher pucks and didn’t inform Ambot when they ran out. Instead I visited a forum and saw a discussion going on about the best dishwasher soap and the overwhelming response went to Wal-Mart’s brand Great Value so I decided to give them a try. Its a powder in plastic wrap that disolves during the wash. Wow! What a difference. It actually gets my dishes and glasses clean. What a refreshing change from using Amway’s dishwasher soap! I no longer have a huge stack of dishwasher rejects. In fact its very rare that I'll have to pull aside anything to rewash by hand. Maybe two items a month.

Ambot noticed I’d switched dishwasher machine detergents and wanted to know why I didn’t tell him so he could order more Amway shit. I told him I was fed up with all the dishwasher rejects that I had to wash by hand and told him if he wanted to continue using Amway dishwasher pucks, then he was going to be responsible for hand washing the rejects.

That settled that problem!

An ambot actually doing the dishes! Don’t make me laugh. Those ambots get brainwashed by their male chauvinist pig Amway cult leaders into thinking its the 1800s and women do all the housework.

What about XS Energy Drinks aka piss water. We never had energy drinks in the house before getting involved with Amway and now all of a sudden these expensive little tins are in my fridge and the empties are littered around the house. Apparently another teaching at Amway meetings by those male chauvinist Amway cult leaders is that the woman of the house will be happy to pick up all those empties and dispose of them so the man can leave them wherever they drop. Because only the man is drinking them. Women do not like drinking piss water!

Now is a good time for me to send out another fuck you to Amway and our upline for introducing that nasty piss water and your old fashioned beliefs into our house.

Perfect Water which would be better named Perfectly Useless Water and their bullshit claims about how it miraculously cures whatever ails you. This snake oil can be yours too for $50 for a case of 24 bottles. Uh lets see. How about $3 or $4 at Walmart for a case of 24 bottles of water that don’t boast it cures cancer.

Those Amway products are the main culprits why prospects should not get involved with Amway.

And from marriedtoanambot let’s just send another big old FUCK YOU out to Amway Scamway and their scammer army of Ambots.

    1. Colin - that was nothing! My husband seemed hell bent on getting at least one of every shitty Amway product in the house. Yes we had the shampoo and conditioner in the house too. They come in big containers that lasted longer than our stint in Amway. I ended up throwing them out. My hair is normal to dry and the Amway shampoo made my hair lifeless and oily. It was just as nasty as any other Amway product we tried. The very expensive Amway SA8 laundry detergent doesn't work any better than a box of Tide. In fact an Amway employee showed up here to say he gets Amway laundry soap for free and he still goes out and buys Tide because it does a better job of getting the clothes clean!

  3. Anna - I'm curious to know whether you, or any of your free-thinking readers, ever came across perhaps the ultimate ironic 'Amway' wampum. Namely, a cheaply-produced, battery powered, movement detector, labelled 'burglar alarm.' These expensive toys could be rendered effectively-useless by any half-competent burglar, simply by hitting, or stepping on, them. They were offered to brain-burgled Ambots in the UK in the 1990s. My Ambot brother had piles of them.

Also, have you ever considered how 'Amway' wampum is looked on by devout Ambots, in essentially the same way that devout Jews and Muslims look on Kosher and Halal food and drink. In both these traditional religions, the consumption of unauthorized foodstuffs, or even the consumption of authorized foodstuffs on unauthorized premises, is believed to be a negative barrier to achieving positive redemption in paradise.

Several former Ambots who contacted me, have told me that 'Upline' conducted regular spot-searchs of 'Downline' homes looking for 'negative products.' Offenders were treated like naughty children. They were made to take the 'negative products' outside and burn them or dump them in the trash.

In the 1990s, a fly-on-the-wall documentary was made about Ambots in Poland. One poor Polish Ambot was filmed smashing his television with a baseball bat because his 'Upline' had told him that it was polluting his brain with 'negativity.'

    1. David - I've never heard of Amway's alarm system. We use the services of a monitored alarm company long before we signed up with Amway.

Perhaps someone down the street is using this cheap battery powered Amway alarm. My neighbor saw me outside a couple of days ago and came over to ask me if I've been hearing somebody's alarm at 1am and 4am. Its been waking her up and goes off for 15 or 20 minutes and its pissing her off. I told her it must not be a monitored system. One of those battery operated ones that makes a lot of noise. Anyway I don't know which house is the culprit. Must be down the other side of the street because its not waking me up. Must be a piece of shit Amway alarm!

The only time any upline asshole went through our house was when Ambot signed up. They walked through and pointed out all the things we use in the house that we could replace with substandard overpriced Amway shit.

Those Amway bastards would be too chicken to do that in my presence. I didn't want any of them in the house. If I'd caught any of them taking my good stuff outside to destroy it I would have given them shit supreme like they've never heard before!

  4. Anna, too be fair some of the products are quality especially the laundry stuff (Legacy of Clean now, used to be SA8). And cost productive too. I use Amway products based on whether 1. It's a product I ACTUALLY LIKE and 2. The price is not too far out of my comfort zone. I'll pay more for quality for many things even outside of the business for sure, but it depends. Their big ticket items are also solid--that air filter thing and that water filter are some good shit. However, obviously one shouldn't be selling those every day, or MAKING downline buy them if it's out of their budget. I like them though and I'm deriving value.

I stopped taking vitamins for the reasons you mentioned--I've realized proper lifestyle negates the need for aggressive supplementation. (Also I was shocked the other day to find out that over the counter vitamins are "all-natural, no artifical stuff...etc". I had been certain they were artificial, chemical and manufcatured....)

For me the most uncomfortable of the "9 core steps" is fanatic 100% self use. The example given is that Bill Gates doesn't have an iPod or Macs in his house. Or that a Mercedes CEO won't be seen driving a BMW. However that's apples and oranges, as in these examples, they are direct competitors and only one line of products in direct competition. Us IBOs have an ENTIRE catalog, so if they're going to be fanatical, basically the whole idea is that we should only be shopping from the catalog, yet no one says that. Also if an IBO doesn't like Xs and won't sell them, no need for him to use it. How can self-use happen to apply only to the core-line products? Doesn't make sense at all. I say use what you like, and use what you think you're actually going to (whole heartedly) promote.

Disclosure: I'm an IBO, I get the idea of success principles, and I support success and those doing their own thing. I think Amway's a good idea ruined by bad people, and inexcusable neglect by the owners in the 80s and 90s (if you do research, Rich DeVos once spoke out against KingPins but backed off). However, I DO NOT like group think, and I don't beleive that Amway is the all and be of the world--there's definitely other measures of success, and we should celebrate them all. So I don't know where that would put me. I don't think I'm an "ambot" but maybe for you all Amway IBOs are!

    1. Anonymous - thank you for stopping by my blog!

Amway's laundry soap was called SA8 when we were in. I disagree that its cost effective. It costs way more than laundry soap that gets similar results. The fact that I had an Amway employee stop by to say he gets laundry soap for free and he still goes out and buys Tide from the grocery store - enough said!

Although you seem to have a good outlook - buy only what you need if the price is decent and not buying Nutrilite vitamins and you get it that a lot of bad IBOs have caused Amway to have a bad name - you are probably a renegade IBO or belong to a line of sponsorship that is not too agressive or you have not been in Amway too long. What you say you're doing is not normal Amway teaching. You are not the typical brainwashed ambot who shows up to my blog with some badly written canned amspeak response spouting off bullshit they heard from the stage and calling everyone not in Amway every name under the sun. I suspect you probably have several pans in the fire and keeping your options open for multiple types of income. You appear to so far be partly resistant to the brainwashing, well spoken, and somewhat educated. Sometimes that can be scarier than the typical brainwashed ambot!

Keep an eye on your expenses and if your net income is below zero every month you might want to reevaluate if Amway is a good option for you. Good luck to you!

I would ask you respectively to not bad mouth an organization that teaches young people leadership, people skills, and promotes an entrepreneurial lifestyle in an economy that really needs this mindset.

There are people who make terrible decisions and in some cases we could call them "bad" people. I'm sure there are some in Amway like any other company but the values that this company promote are not bad. It's the individuals that choose to hurt others that are the problem and they exist everywhere not just in amway. I hope you can move on from whatever your spouse did to you.

I would ask you respectively to not bad mouth an organization that teaches young people leadership, people skills, and promotes an entrepreneurial lifestyle in an economy that really needs this mindset."

I was an Amway distributor for about a year. I remember hearing an Amway motivational tape that advised people to divorce their spouses if they wouldn't join "the business." Is it any wonder Amway can put a strain on people's marriages? I think this was probably a Bill Britt tape. I heard another Britt tape which included an "altar call." Go figure. What a bunch of bogus "Christians" are involved in this thing. (I am not a Christian myself, but was raised in a devoutly Christian household, and advising someone to divorce their spouse over something like this no less, is anything but Christian.) I was in the Hale organization, which is of course an offshoot of Yager's, so it is from the more aggressively right-wing (pseudo?) fundamentalist Christian side of things.

I'm kind of amazed I stayed in for so long but my brother is the one who recruited me, I had just graduated from college and was floundering, and I did it partly as a conscious experiment in brainwashing myself/letting myself be brainwashed. I quit after hearing Dexter Yager speak live.

  5. Anna - Sadly, my heart goes out to your latest anonymous visitor who, yet again, has proved the validity of the following, famous observations of cultic/totalitarian regimes:

'The most powerful weapon in the hands of the oppressor, is the mind of the oppressed.'

'If you tell a big enough lie and keep repeating it, eventually people will come to accept it as the tuth.'

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who blindly repeats the scripted lie: 'I am/was an Amway I(ndependent)B(usiness)O(wner),' is merely demonstrating that it is remarkably-easy to shut-down an individual's critical, and evaluative, faculties by subjecting them (without their fully-informed consent) to co-ordinated, devious techniques of social, psychological and physical persuasion. These impermissible techniques are based on giving their victims the illusion that they are always making a free-choice.

One of these techniques is known as Neuro-Linguistic Programming. In brief, you can control a person's thinking simply by controlling, and ritualizing, their means of thought (i.e. their vocabulary). All cultic groups and totalitaian regimes constantly repeat reality-inverting, thought-stopping jargon; particularly, accronyms. This jargon is a non-violent means of intellectually-castrating cult adherents in order to cripple them with guilt and shame, and prevent them from complaining. Sadly, even after they have left their groups, it can remain second nature for cult victims to continue to reflect their group's fictitious controlling scenario as fact.

Thus, it would be far more accurate for your anonymous visitor to have said :

In order to control my thinking, I have been constantly told by the billionaire bosses of the 'Amway' mob and their propaganda system, that I am an 'Independent Business Owner,' but, in reality, I have been their powerless de facto slave.

Obviously, it's human nature for people to deny that they have been deceived or that they have been used to deceive others. This is why 'the most powerful weapon in the hands of the oppressor, is the mind of the oppressed.'

    8. To me, the definition of a "loser" would be someone who gets involved in a multi-level marketing pyramid scheme where the products are horribly overpriced and of generic to poor quality, and thus the vast majority of customers are the Ambots themselves who in turn can only try to recruit new people to be self-consumers. When less than 1% of those who get involved in Amway don't make any money in it (and that figure is from Amway's own literature) then it's lousy "business plan". But then again, aren't all pyramids where only those at the very tippy top make any money at all?

    7. Anna, I just have to say you are 100% right that Amway is a form of a cult. Organizations like this, scientology, Crossfit (strangely enough) are all revolved around guerrilla social networking and the previously mentioned neuro-linguistic programming. They are all systems of social support and "perceived value" that ultimately have large sums of money being given up from the brainwashed members.

I have a suggestive friend who is at a tough place in his life and needed some purpose, and he joined Amway after being coerced by some of his facebook friends that he barely knows. I found your page by looking up info on Amway and you confirm that my suspicions about this company are true. Now I have my work cut out for me to convince him that this is not going to make him money.

The real joke about Amway is that the real customers - the real money makers - for the higher ups at Amway are not the "customers", they are the IBOs themselves. My friend has already become brainwashed into buying the Amway products for himself.

    8. Hi Anonymous. Thanks for stopping by. Sorry to hear about your friend. You do have your work cut out for you because your friends Amway upline have already brainwashed him that the only people he can trust are his Amway leaders because they will always tell the truth and he can't believe people not in Scamway because they are negative liars who don't want him to succeed. Or something similar to that. Amway is all about separating their followers from their friends and family. If you haven't already done so download the free ebook Merchants of Deception. The link is in the right hand sidebar. Less than 5% of Amway's sales are made to people who are not signed up to be Amway IBO's, so that tells you how hard the cult leaders promote the old buy from yourself, buy from your own store bullshit. If someone else makes the products and puts the price tag on them then it ain't your store.

Why is it easy for people to judge and criticize others, but not themselves?

Because its much easier to condemn someone else for their faults than admit our own faults and imperfections. Admitting our own faults means we must be introspective and be honest about the things we have done wrong or the areas of our lives with which we are unsatisfied. It is much easier to simply turn a blind eye to our own mistakes and judge others for the mistakes they have made. It isn't right and it isn't how the world should work, many people simply haven't developed the moral fortitude to do what is right rather than what is easy.

Of course, for them to say that means they still pretend that success in Amway has only to do with "how hard you work the business and how much you put into it". Bullshit. The statistics and facts blow that argument apart. Even when you take out of the equation all those who get involved in the company but never really try to do anything with it, the remaining Ambots who are "hard core, do everything my upline and the CD's tell me to do, eat, breathe and think Amway 24 hours a day, put pictures of mansions on my refrigerator, prospect anything on two feet", of THOSE hard-working CORE Ambots, 99% of them will never make any reasonable amount of money at all to offset the huge amounts they are required to dump into it. The system is badly flawed. No amount of drawing circles and playing "best case scenarios in a perfect world" will make the system work. Because in a pyramid scheme, there HAS to be large amounts of people losing LOTS and LOTS of money to feed the folks at the top. And the majority of those at the bottom will wise up at some point and say "fuck this shit" and get out of the cult. Thus those in the upline will forever be having to bring in fresh victims. And at some point the sucker market starts to dry up, which is why even when an Ambot reaches a certain level, it is usually only temporary, and they quickly tumble back down when their downline starts dropping like flies as the upline runs out of lies and bullshit to "motivate" them to continue destroying their finances and lives to the almighty god of greed.

The truth is, folks who put up blogs like this are not "sour grapes losers who couldn't make it in a flawless opportunity", they are people who got sucked into a money-losing, relationship-destroying cult who only want to warn others of the dangers of Amway, which the glazed-eyed smiling brainwashed Ambots trying to suck them in won't ever tell them about.

People like Anna should be commended. She is hardly "wasting her time" here when she has probably saved countless potential victims of a cult who did a google search trying to find out more info on Amway that the person prospecting them with "excited talk of dreams and wealth" would never tell them about, then they found her blog and found out the truth which kept them from making a life-destroying decision to join a mind-controlling cult.

On that aspect alone it's worth it, not to mention giving a forum for those who've been ripped off by this 'opportunity" a place to vent, share stories and heal.

That same Amway asshole is searching the Internet in the dead of the night first thing this morning when everyone else is asleep looking for Amway is awesome and ended up back on my blog again with more words of wisdom. 7. It'll be funny what kind of response you'd get a year from now. He may still be deeply entrenched in Amway, but his talking points could evolve.

I've noticed a pattern with them. The Newbies will speak excitedly of being on the road to riches in no time flat, mocking others with "maybe you can drive my limo for me". After a year or two they take one of two paths. One, they'll out and out lie "I made $30,000 just last month alone" when in fact they just got kicked out of their house for being behind on mortgage payments. The other possible path would be suddenly changing from the "I'm gonna be rich rich rich" to "Well, success can't only be found in how much one is earning. I've gained so much experience and leadership skills that money just can't buy". LOL yeah, right.

  10. Hats off Anna for calling out the Bull!@#$. Too many people see the feel good adds and the pictures of rich homes (with no substance to back it up) and say "Yea, this could be my life" and then sink what little they have into this MLM scam.

MLM in general serves one purpose only. It feeds those people at the top. Eventually you run out of people at the bottom so those just starting out are left to fight for what little market share is left. And in the case of Amway, they have no real tools to fight that fight with.

Its always nice to look at pictures of mansions in Malibu and imagine yourself living there but it ain't going to happen if you're throwing money away in Amway or another MLM.

The only people who get rich in Amway are the people who own the company and the Diamonds who sell tickets to functions to their cult followers to listen to them speak. And the other bullshit motivational material or "business" tools they sell. That's where the money is. New recruits keep the money flowing up the pyramid.

My soul is not allowing me to buy those heart fully. But because of him, i am thinking about those products. i am confusing now. What's your suggestion. Is it good to buy Amway products?

    ReplyDelete

    1. That is why Amway teaches the tactics that it does. Having their IBO's target friends and family who often buy mainly out of an uncomfortable sense of obligation despite their products being overpriced, generic and often substandard. Then once the loved one is buying, with their foot in the door, the IBO starts to put the squeeze on for them to either buy even more products, or to become Amway distributors, too. They will bug the family member, friend or loved one to attend a meeting, saying "just listen to the plan, what have you got to lose?" Well, as thousands of former IBO's can tell them "you can lose a LOT by being in Amway". Finances, time and your own individuality.

  13. I went to look up Amway's alarm system out of curiosity and came across your blog, Anna. Good on you for taking the time to keep it up.

I'm an experienced alarm tech and I was in Amway briefly back before the 90s when Amway was newly into the alarm business. At that time, Amway was vending a do-it-yourself model of equipment made by Ademco, which is a good brand, but...what Amway sold was the low-end wireless system that most probably caused untold false alarms, and it became obsolete in a few years.
My upline sponsor told me he sold the package of equipment and installed it for free. Which may seem like a good deal for the buyers except that they got what they paid for. An inexperienced installer is a good recipe for false alarms out the wazoo. Amway dealers are NOT trained installers.

"Obsolete" means that you can't buy replacement parts anymore, so if one part gets broken, you can't replace it and you won't have complete protection without buying a whole new system. That was the drawback of wireless systems in the 80s, when they were evolving.

By comparison, if you had your wireless alarm system professionally installed (by an actual alarm dealer) in the last 20 years, you should still be able to buy replacement parts. (Hardwired systems don't become obsolete.)

Bottom line, vending companies not specifically trained in alarm systems (like Amway dealers aren't) have no business marketing them and in some states like MD and VA, it would be illegal for unlicensed/unregistered vendors to install them...for the excellent reason that such systems used to keep police departments busy 95% of their time chasing false alarms. But... selling alarm systems is profitable, so Amway will continue marketing them. They don't care if the customer has to stop using the system to get a night's sleep...they got their money up front.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. Keep up the good work, Anna.

  14. Amway is another way for certain business savvy people to make long term money. It is also a tool for certain people to learn how to market themselves and to gain confidence selling themselves as well as handling rejection from potential clients. Look at any sales position in any company... you are told to make "cold calls" and try to get peoples business. How many times do you think people get pissed off at them and curse them out? Probably every day. Sales is not for everyone and Amway has many IBOs that probably should stay out of the sales field because it gives the ones who are honest and hard working a bad name. As for the overpriced products, have you ever walked into a store and said, "Wow! That price is ridiculous." I know I have and I chose not to buy it. All that said, Im not involved with Amway, but rather a logical person who is an informed consumer and doesnt bash things I disagree with.

    2. Wouldn't it still be possible to become successful with purely customers if a company has a great product? Might I add, what is considered successful is defined by the person. So a few paychecks here and there, profiting after you minus the expense of autoships required by companies. OR your business grows rapidly because the products work well and the customers start to market the products to get their own products paid off--this cycle then repeats.

So you say most companies are scam, what are the other ones that are better?

      Thanks!

      Delete
    3. I'm not quite sure where you got "most companies are a scam" from what I said. I simply said multi-level marketing schemes where basically the product is secondary and the push to find others to recruit into the scheme and get them to find others and them to find others... read: pyramid scheme.

If a product is a good product, is reasonably priced and has a market out there to sell to, then yes, one could make a few bucks depending on their sales savvy and cleverness at promoting it. But then at that point it's not really a multi-level marketing thing anymore as a multi-level marketing scheme is where you could make a lot of sales, but you only get a small percentage of it, and the rest trickles upward on the pyramid. You would then be pushed by your upline to recruit, recruit and recruit some more in order for you to sponge off of THEIR sales. The MLM model just isn't a model that works for most people. But, hey, it works for at least 1% of them. It's just that the 99% have to lose lots of money in order for the 1% to make a lot.

  17. @Anonymous from Sept 7, 2012 6:18 AM: There are NO network marketing companies with business models that work for the average (meaning non-upline/founder) person. Although some of them do have good products, as a business model they are no more than a scam. As an experienced Financial Controller, I can tell you that the business model is just hogwash. "Use your own inventory/buy from yourself"?? Any business analyst can tell you one of the worst mistakes is to use up your own inventory. You're supposed to SELL that, not consume it! Furthermore, the profit margin on these network marketing products is just too slim to ever profit the seller. The real money (for upline) comes from recruiting new suckers.

    1. "There are NO network marketing companies with business models that work for the average (meaning non-upline/founder) person."

We all can agree there are many successful people in many companies. Again, as I mentioned up top, the definition of success varies from people to people. When you say a model that works for the average, almost every successful person, who were most likely average before, in all the companies had to start somewhere right? Most of them start at the bottom. So they were average and non-upline before they become successful.

Yes, you are suppose to sell your inventory, but if you own a Starbucks or food restaurant, I am sure those people consume their inventory too.. Plus, no one says you need to consume your products, you can simply sell it.

      Delete
    2. Connie wasn't saying that one cannot buy their own products. You are just being silly now. But much of the recruitment push in Amway is to convince people to self-consume to meet their monthly PV requirements (since an over-priced generic product with a bad reputation can be somewhat hard to sell outside of the "business") and then to go out in turn and find others to self-consume, as well, and so on and so on. Again, as I've stated before, at that point the product becomes secondary to simply going out and trying to recruit other people to self-consume and try to make money off of their sales to themselves. (and we haven't even gotten into the backdoor money of brainwashing seminars, meetings, books, CD's, etc).

If you feel the MLM model is for you, then go for it. No one is stopping you. The point of this site is to simply give folks the 99% side of the coin. Those who are trying to recruit, of course, only give the rosy 1% side of the coin. That way one can hear all sides and make their own decision. If they still decide to go for it, hey, they can't say they weren't warned.

      ~Dave

  18. the reason why you consume your own products is so that you can experience them yourself so that it would be easy for you to recommend others. and also the plan also gives benefits to you because you shop on something that gives you benefits. nobody asks you to spread messages so that your team will expand. its up to you whether you want to be a client, or an IBO. nothing is perfect, really. you have to find which product is the right for you like shampoo, beauty products etc. not all of em are bad. the nutrilite products actually gave me wonders. the dish washer is very soft to your hand and you wont have to worry about the dangerous chemical contained in brand X. Amway made a product which you need less but gain more. like shampoo, you dont need too much of it, if you do you might end up drying your hair. there are so many other things that you need to know before starting this Amway business primarily about Amway product like from inside and out. thats what makes Amway different and worls's top quality brand no matter how much you say it but the experts know best. i went to the beauty and health workshop to get to know about amway products and learn the right way to use them instead of using them literally like how u used brand X because Amway is definitely DIFFERENT. learn, and you'll know

  20. Hey folks, hey Anna
My hubby just started to drag amway into our sweet home. One order, never again!

Never mind the massive dent in the bank balance...
i have had piles of laundry that haven't been cleaned properly and my poor little kid and I ended up with constantly itchy skin even using the amway baby sensitive laundry stuff,
the good old dish drops you mention that seem to do less than a cheap watery detergent from my local cheapo store,
'concentrated' bathroom cleaner that i tried watering down to all kinds of different degrees and in the end it seems to be very ordinary kind of disinfectant that i would use dilute for the floor, but does f* all for real bathroom cleaning
everything smells like some nasty 1970s chemical products

oh, and my hubby is convinced he is becoming some kind of superhero due to taking the supposedly so superior nutritional supplements ... heaven help us when amway jump on the bandwagon of claiming to produce supplements that help brain development :-)

glad to hear am not alone in thinking it's complete crock of shit

but the good side - they fact that amway can get away with claiming any sort of environmental friendliness has scared me so much I am becoming an avid checker of any household product i buy, and am definitely going much greener - so ha ha, an unexpected bonus after all

And that ... ahem... 'business model' thing about consuming and earning, think what they mean is part with your hard earned money now, spending far more than the product is worth to you right now, and then if you're lucky you claw some back from some other sucker that you draw in and do that a few times and you'll get rich? Maybe amway isn't illegal but it sounds exactly like some of those scam investment schemes that gets someone at the top rich because people in a tough economy trying to find a way to make a living desperately hand money over now in the hope of some magic formula creating wealth for them. If someone was giving out bogus share certificates and lots of promising sales talk people might spot the catch and it would get stopped, the only difference here is that they hand over some crap soap products instead.

Don't believe the bullshit about how Amway is one of the top 2 or whatever number environmental companies in the world. I searched and could not find any validation. I wrote a post about that some time ago. It's just yet another lie the assholes in the Amway upline spout off to their cult followers.

Your husband will likely figure out in the next 4 months that he's not making any money at this scam and he's losing lots of money attending Amway meetings and buying motivational products. The people in his upline will bust their asses trying to break up your marriage so you need to be prepared for that.

Look for some of his business plan booklets. Somewhere in the small print Amway lists e percentage of people who make money at this scam. It's less than 1%. You need to point that out to him and convince him you need to find a business with a better success rate.

My friend has been recently bugging me to attend this free Amway health session (skin, nails, hair etc etc) and she seems totally inspired by the meetings she has attended. She says that investment of money is not required. Only time is important and you can earn thousands. Also, she says that a friend of hers who has used some supplement has glowing skin and good hair now!

A few days ago, we had a discussion on whether Amway supplements are good or not. She was bent on the fact that some Amway supplement has the power of 6 oranges. So I said, 'why not eat the oranges??' Then she started saying about pesticides and how vegetables have become expensive! People don't have time to cook or grow their own veggies. And no matter what we do, the fruits aren't totally pure! I don't understand the fact that for generations, people have lived eating natural stuff, right? I don't wanna get sucked in into eating supplements. No matter what, I'll stick to natural produce and not some pills! People swear by the supplements and I don't want to take any unless it is prescribed by an unbiased doctor. My God, I feel that she has been totally brainwashed! I don't wanna hurt her feelings but I guess that I'll attend that free health session anyway! After all, I don't intend to fall into the Amway trap! :D

sorry that you got a bad upline because a good upline will not only do some demo and introduced you to the product so you will buy all those things but they should see what products that you should buy and teach u how to use it in the right way so it will not disadvantaged you... well those are also the kind of upline that i will not join in to...

    3. selifi - at every Scamway meeting I went to the cult leaders would be breaking down the cost per vitamin or per water or whatever. .34 cents a pill? Holy shit! We can go to Walmart and buy a bottle of 100 vitamins for $5. So that's like .05 cents each. As for oranges when they're in season people can pick them in their backyard for free. Same as with lots of other types of fruit depending where you live in the country. Or we can take a drive out to a farm and buy a box for a good price. Remind me not to visit a country where oranges are so expensive! Holy shit!

Again shove it with the smug blame the victim scam that goes with Amway territory. Heard it a million times. Yawn. You ambots are so Unoriginal. And the smugness that you have the most superior Amway upline out there. Hate to break it to you but everyone in the Amway upline are a bunch of fucking assholes.

    4. so u have to know, for some people who live in a big city like me, we don't have any backyard that can geow oranges, apples or anything else..
we can grow some chillis but not fruits or veggie

not all people have the money to have a house with a big lawn here, so yes we have to but fruits at the supermarket and 10 oranges will costs us about $2 so yes we choose to take bio c instead...

      Delete
    5. Selifi, you still miss the point of the fact that even if you don't buy real oranges, you can get vitamin C pills at the store for a FRACTION of the cost as the scam product, with every bit the same benefit. Of course the scammers are going to bullshit you with "oh no, their product doesn't have as much vitamin C as ours", but the cheaper store bought ones have all the daily vitamin C requirements you need. And one has to be careful not to overdo it with vitamins because with some it can actually HURT you to have too much per day. But I'm sure they will tell you that they know better. Con artist scammers always think they know more than the doctors do. lol

      Delete
    6. selifi - and as long as you stay in Amway you'll never be able to afford a nice house with a backyard where you can have orange trees.

How lucky for you to have $2 bag of oranges. Laughing trying to remember the last decade I could still buy a bag of oranges from a guy standing in the street! LOL!

  28. Amway dishwashers and liquid soaps are found to be over concentrated. They simply increase the acidic content and say , hey look what great job is our product doing, because of this exceptional quality that our products are costly.

Fact of the matter is, Amway itself says that it gives 40% of the income to IBO's. Then how can we expect their products to be of any normal price ?

    1. Hi skt. You got it. Amway has to price their products to cover their costs of manufacturing it, plus a hefty profit for themselves, plus all the commissions that get paid out of that sale. People would rather shop at big box stores that have lower prices and more selection. Less than 5% of Amway's sales are made to people who are not IBO's. Their soaps are shit anyway that don't get the job done.

  31. Hi everyone

Recently met an ambot, who kept telling about some "clean", super high quality products, a mystical water cleaner which are available only to the "chosen ones", like, these are the products you cannot find in the shops even if you pay a million.

Its amazing, that brainwashed people in amway demonize the ads and commercial and call me a brainwashed by TV :D

I guess, amway uses neiro linguistic programming. All the people are talking the same bull shit with the same "magical" phrases.

I think that a simple seller is called a "BUSINESS OWNER" is also a way to brainwash. They use the weak points of human psycho and play on ambitions.

This has all the characteristics of a sect, talking to them I feel like Im being haunted by Jehova's witnesses.

    BUT< WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT

It is harming people by misleading them, i.e. they preach falls healthy life.
The agent I met claimed that you can even smoke, you can eat and drink whatever you want, and IF you take the vitamins and the "holly" pure water from the filter, you gonna live forever and not die of cancer.

I think this should be stopped somehow. Instead of quitting smoking, physical training and healthy food people just by vitamins and pricy water filters and "Belive" that "evil" will not touch them.

Their products contain preservatives, soy lecitin and other chemicals that are not advisory for healthy life, and they admit it.
The official site contains information, that the water filter does not clean all the harmful chemicals. So, then whats the difference with "usual" products?

You keep going to the market where you'll find a bigger variety of high quality products at lower prices than what Amway sells.

  37. Anna, it might be more effective to refrain from using such strong expletives in your posts if you wish to convince people of your point of view. Or calling someone..oh,stupid asshole ambot or some such. That said, I do have some sympathy for you.

I was involved with Amway back in the late 1970's. I would say Amway has some good products, and some bummers. They have many more products now, and perhaps a higher percentage of them are "bummers."

SA8 (the detergent) seemed pretty good at the time.It may not have been the absolute best, but many products sold aren't. And they aren't any cheaper either. I remember the demo (and giving the demo) on a product called LOC (Liquid Organic Cleanser). It was an amazing and convincing demo. Of course, you pick the demo to show your product off at its best. And the shoe polish/hankerchief demo was darn convincing. But, as with other cleaning products, it is not effective on everything. You have to know your product, its strengths and weaknesses, and be honest with customers about them. Amway does not promote you doing this. They just say its great for everything, go tell people to buy it and use it yourself. So a product may be thought to be ineffective when really its just not effective on what its being used on. And if its supposed to be a general purpose cleaner then it should be effective on a wide range of things, but probably not everything.

The dishwasher detergent sounds like a bad product. They should probably discontinue it, and buy a company with an effective product that does not hurt their brand name. Same with those Dish Drops, because they sure elicited a strong negative reaction in people.

The real way to make money in Amway is to reach Diamond (by having a broad and deep Downline who are using the products properly and selling them properly). Once at Diamond, you make a speech at a convention center and sell the tapes to all the Ambots. Then write a short book and sell that to all the Ambots. When you consider how they tell each person they need to buy 2-3 books and 2-3 tapes at each of those conventions (and say you wrote/recorded them all) you can just rake in the dough. That's where you really make money, not selling product.

I was an Electrical Engineering student at the time I got involved in Amway. It began interfering with my studies. My Upline, who was a school teacher, basically said I should drop out and concentrate on Amway. I nearly punched him. Really. An actual school teacher told me to drop out of school to pursue Amway. I walked away from Amway then and never looked back.

    1. Anonymous - thanks for sharing your story and you got it. The only way to make money in Amway is to be at the top and sell tickets to hear you speak and sell copies of motivational CD's and other stuff that is commonly referred to as the Amway tool scam. Today they still teach downline to drop out of school to pursue an Amway business. In other words, redirect the money you're spending on tuition and spend it on Amway products to make your upline richer.

The swearing is all part of the entertainment around here. People who would love to curse out their Amway upline but can't come here to see it done. Keep them entertained and they keep coming back. This blog gets over 1000 visitors daily.

All of you are lying because if you were telling the truth you would have thrown in "I got my money back from the 180 day money back guarantee) so the "massive dent" in your bank account would have been fully restored. Bottom line is. If you do amway you have to understand that you have to learn success principles and grow as a person. If you are going to curse and bash amway like this. Then seems like your negative impolse on anything thtt doesn't work out for you and you immaturity is what made you fail. Or seems like you were the bitchy wife that was only trying to be supportive for your husband, got in, and found another thing to bitch about. I'm going to go enjoy my 500 dollar profit I made this month, with bonuses, on a new tv:D have a fun bitchy life you negative, and illiterite because people kept saying they weren't in amway. 39. Hey Anna, I want to thank you for such an amazing blog! My parents have been involved with Amway for a couple of years now and I keep waiting for them to give up, but it just doesn't seem to happen. We've had fights over their involvement in what I deem to be an evil, manipulative corporation, even resulting in family holidays being ruined! It sucks because I feel like my parents are fairly intelligent people, which makes it all that much harder to come to terms with the fact they have been brainwashed beyond help. I've always been upfront with them, stating that I want nothing to do with their "business", but just today my mother called asking me to buy supplements..pretty much trying to guilt me into purchasing products by using the ploy of supporting someone I loved by investing in their business..gross!! I kept telling her that I would much rather eat my vitamins via actual fruit and veggies than take a pill seeing as how it's seemed to work out quite well for mankind over the last couple millennia, but she kept trotting some bullshit Amspeak prompt to keep countering my claim to a truly natural lifestyle. It breaks my heart to see my parents act like such fucking tools, especially after I've been so point-blank with them about my disdain for Amway. How can I politely kick them back into touch, or is it even possible? They have to be reaching if they're trying to peddle their overpriced bullshit to their broke daughter, ya know? I realize you might not have the answers, but I had to let you know I appreciate a blog like yours which is dedicated to exposing the bullshit that is Amway...thanks Anna!

I hear from kids of ambots every now and then and there's some very sad stories of neglect and how much these kids hate Amway for how its destroyed their lives and chances of having a normal childhood. Look at the links on the right hand side of this page to download a free ebook called Merchants of Deception. Its a frightening story written by a former Emerald who had 1000 people in his downline and was only making $2 - $3/k/month. The numbers just aren't there to make money at Amway. Sad to say you might have to watch them hit rock bottom and go heavily into debt before they get out of this scam. You can be pretty sure the assholes in their upline are working your parents at kicking you out of their lives because you don't support them in their business. Amway is all about destroying other peoples lives. This is the place to come and curse out those bastards so feel free to do so! Good luck to you.

  40. Anybody ever use the Amway toothpaste ? It was the mid 90 's and I used it for 6 months as an easy way to get some points. My dentist was horrified! Nothing but excellent check ups for 20 years and then significant softening of my teeth. I have permanent white marks along the bottom row of my lower front teeth. Dentist put me on an extra daily flouride treatment for 10 years and was afraid to take me off because he felt it had to be something with my chemistry. Changed dentists and we tried stopping the treatment and monitoring. Back to excellent checkups for 8 years now.

You have to personally consume 100PV of Amway products each month - about $300 - to be eligible for a $10 commission. You can get a job somewhere as a cashier where you don't have to buy stuff from your boss and make more money working 5 hours/week than an Ambot makes all month. Also you need to take control of your household, don't let people leaving without them throwing away their mess. Put out a box or trash can where they can dump their cans. I've talked to others who have tried Amway and stopped because of similar reasons(weak upline). I did my research and found out that the only way to do this Amways involved business is through WWDB(World Wide Dream Builders). EVERYONE I have met in it have been very polite, considerate, and love to help people. That's the type of way WWDB teaches to interact with everyone. Comments are moderated but we publish just about everything. Even brainwashed ambots who show up here to accuse us of not trying hard enough and that we are lazy, quitters, negative, unchristian dreamstealers. Like we haven’t heard that Amspeak abuse from the assholes in our upline!

If your comment didn’t get published it could be one of these reasons:
1. Is it the weekend? We don’t moderate comments on weekends. Maybe not every day during the week either. Patience.
2. Racist/bigoted comments? Take that shit somewhere else.
3. Naming names? Public figures like politicians and actors and people known in Amway are probably OK – the owners, Diamonds with CDs or who speak at functions, people in Amway’s publicity department who write press releases and blogs. Its humiliating for people to admit their association with Amway so respect their privacy if they’re not out there telling everyone about the love of their life.
4. Gossip that serves no purpose. There are other places to dish about what Diamonds are having affairs or guessing why they’re getting divorced. If you absolutely must share that here – don’t name names. I get too many nosy ambots searching for this. Lets not help them find this shit.
5. Posting something creepy anonymously and we can’t track your location because you’re on a mobile device or using hide my ass or some other proxy. I attracted an obsessed fan and one of my blog administrators attracted a cyberstalker. Lets keep it safe for everyone. Anonymous is OK. Creepy anonymous and hiding – go fuck yourselves!
6. Posting something that serves no purpose other than to cause fighting.
7. Posting bullshit Amway propaganda. We might publish that comment to make fun of you. Otherwise take your agenda somewhere else. Not interested.
8. Notice how this blog is written in English? That's our language so keep your comments in English too. If you leave a comment written in another language then we either have to use Google translate to put it into English so everyone can understand what you wrote or we can hit the Delete button. Guess which one is easier for us to do?
9. We suspect you're a troublemaking Amway asshole.
10. Your comment got caught in the spam filter. Gets checked occasionally. We’ll get to you eventually and approve it as long as it really isn’t spam.
